Wow. I didn’t know that school/s in Korea is doing this. Like students went to these school to nurture their talents and not to sell it to those guys 😡 so happy that you made a video about this. At least more people will be uducated and the students who made the video will feel the support of their fellow korean people. :)

Subscribe for no Reason what happened was that a video was uploaded by students of this school. And they exposed the school for corruption and injustice to their students. These students are graduated but can still get in trouble with the principal. And this got so viral that the school is under investigation.

Farah Omar ARMYBLINK That person is just joking ok. Its true what you said. But what that person said in the comments its just a joke alright. I hope you read this comment. Also doing well. I think Jungkook might have some issue in the school too. To be honest he still felt he was lucky not to be going to school that often as well as not even study at that school. Sure what you said makes sence but if you look at his face that he is glad that he left school let alone didnt have any friend bonding there. Like they must be one person that he made friends with. You know his classmates said that Jungkook was very quiet because he is shy. But maybe something that he had to go deal when he is at school and especially when he was debuting as an idol. He found it hard because he needs to support his family also for his career. Im also sure that Namjoon and the others teach him more when he need some help in his homework. His IQ is not bad for someone who havent to been to school that often. So yeah. You get me.

this is a story of my experience at SOPA. okay so i’m a korean/american person ( studied in america for 4 years, but born and raised in a primarily “asian” household ), and because of my father’s job, we had to move back and forth from seoul and cali a lot. i never knew what his job was since i never questioned it, but i did know he worked at a school. fast forward a few years, i moved back to korea and started going to an international school and one day we had “take your kid to work day” i’m not sure if other korean high schools have that but from what my friend told me, it’s not so common? anyways i asked my dad if i could go to his work and see what he does as a teacher ( i won’t say which subject he teaches just in case because he still works there) and he said okay. now i’m not sure if this was addressed, but apparently my dad didn’t let the administration know that i was coming, so when i showed up they immediately questioned me. my dad let them know i was his daughter and they kinda just side eyed it but let me in. i assume since my dad was really loved around there, they decided it was alright. now this is where things kinda got weird. i met some of his coworkers and they were all very kind, and gave me a lot of sweet compliments, but as soon as this man walked in, everyone just kind of went silent. now i’m a very outgoing person, so i decided to introduce myself very formally to him but with out even making eye contact with me, he turned to my dad and said “who is she? why is she here?” my dad immediately let him know why i was there and apologized for not letting him know directly, to which he scoffed and said i had to leave before the lunch bell, and then left the room. i later found out that he was the principal. after that, i followed my dad to his class and sat in one of the seats so i could observe the class as he taught, and as the class slowly filled up, i decided to introduce myself to the girls behind me. they were very kind and funny and we eventually exchanged kakao’s. they were interested in my life in america, and i was interested in their goals to become idols. as i observed the classroom i noticed that some things looked quite literally “dirty” and run down which really surprised me as the tuition was known to be high and their reputation of being the best arts school in korea, i guess i just expected the facilities to be well taken care of. then i guess you cold say i did a bit of ease dropping as i heard this group of students beside me talking about an event they had to attend the night before. this surprised me considering it was a wednesday, and having to attend an event in the middle of the week, and having to practice late and early the day before just seems brutal. i later found out from that same friend that this was just a normal occurrence. even after that day we continued talking and she told me all about the same things those students talked about in that video. it wasn’t news to them, it was taboo. it’s almost easy for students to be exploited like that, in an environment where most of these kids just want to preform. if students ever complained they were usually given consequences and told not to question anything. to all the people calling these students “attention seekers” or “ungrateful” just consider the fact that they’re risking their reputation in the industry in order to speak up and talk about this issue. they’re working towards change and bettering the school that they love, not bitterly defaming it. i’m happy that they’re finally getting their justice, hopefully things will be managed better in the future under new authority. and before anyone asks for things from my fathers point of view, he told me most things were organized by higher ups and even teachers didn’t know about events the day before. while teachers had to accompany the students to these events, the administrators were usually behind the scenes, telling them what they had to do, and of course, were not paid any of the alleged money they’d receive for the event. it was just a whole lot of confusion and mess due to the people at the top, being greedy and exploiting these students. but i’m glad this topic is getting a lot of attention, it’s all that students are talking about on social media right now, and there are a couple videos made by actual students from SOPA talking about the issue if you’d like to hear more about it.

itsmeAA masters course would be better in terms of environment; but nevertheless, students exploited by teachers/professors are a common sight in Korea. Thank you David and Danny for talking about this matter. It is a serious concern that requires State and/or even Federal attention. I appreciate you guys for providing your own research and efforts into making this video informative. My concern with the video is with Danny. please be more mindful as to how you address these situations. I understand that everyone reacts differently to sources, but to smile or laugh at teachers abusing school money for their own benefit, students performing for private insurance businessmen, bringing female students to military base or boys school etc...is inappropriate. I understand that you're not laughing at the victims but laughing at the ridiculous level of atrocity of the manipulators. But there are victims who were harmed, psychologically damaged, and families who are or had been struggling financially. I appreciate David for handling this matter appropriately and maturely. Overall, I cannot thank you both enough for compiling these sources to bring this issue to our attention. Much appreciated for your hard work.

I was in Korea for an exchange semester and I experienced this uncommon view of professional relationships as well. They way you phrased it was really accurate "worklife/student life as an extension of the private life". For me it was so uncommon to see the relationship between the professor and the students. He went out to eat dinner and lunch with his students and wanted to invite the girlfriends or boyfriends of his students. So that may sound like a friendly act to some people, but I feel the relationship between students and professors should be professional. Since the professor is the one to rate the exam and shouldn't be biased. That's were the relationship gets blurry and for students e.g. it gets harder to refuse work they are given by the professor even if it may be unfair.

Thank goodness Jungkook got 6 older brothers to guide him and him grounded. If Jungkook gets depressed, he got RM and Suga to guide him on how deal with it.

WTF?!?! The image you see outside of Korea is completely different! I’m in the US and we see, beautiful, rich, conservative, “have it altogether” people and country. USA is also bad in so many ways. This is completely mind blowing and tragic. Hoping and praying for the best for the vulnerable in your society. May justice reign and may change come quickly. You young people have the power and voice through social media. Keep spreading truth and justice will be served and change will happen. Thanks for informing! You’ve got a new subscriber.

Y’all should watch the K-Drama moment Of Eighteen. It’ll kind of explain all the corruption not only behind the Korean education systems but all the education systems throughout the world. It also focuses on the pressure and the hard times every student actually goes through. Such as Competitive Parents and Corrupted Principal.

That school is so disgusting. I'm done. Yall toxic, corrupt and I'm happy it's improving. But changing the walls is not enough. Edit: just wanted to say I only came here for Jungkook but thank for opening up about this

Is so funny how when this came up the press started to talk about Seungri and SBS manipulated JJY text to make people believe singer Lee was Seungri ( which court papers demonstrated it wasn’t him) this scandal was buried. They started focusing on Seungri and adding things he never did. The sheep’s went after Seungri and nothing happened to the culprits of Sopa and that actress that died. Those two scandals were buried.

What's even more upsetting is that no one is ready to speak up and are normalizing this kind of ridiculous things.

This culture came from the old culture of slavery so it happend in many other country too. Even make them who don't have the power as their sex-slave. And its common in my country.

It takes actions like this to create change. The more people stand up against such injustice, not only in the school but also the entertainment industry, the faster change will happen that us very much needed. I hope more people gain motivation and confidence to stand up against this injustice. I hope this is the start of a new movement to an major improvement in the industry.
