Also everyones trying to debut a global group nowadays, like first is was XG which are literally just signing in English- That's once again not global, just a Western language on a more Kpop type of song. I hate seeing all these global groups, like ma'am it's kpop not global pop 😭

i agree so much about the illit encore stage, sure they didn't sound fantastic but they definitely weren't that bad. i'd say only one of them was really struggling vocally and i just hope she can improve in the future. almost all of them sounded fine, a little shaky but fine. when i watched it i expected it to be awful considering what people were saying but it turns out people were just being nasty to be nasty i guess. i still think hybe needs to invest in more vocal lessons bc they are leaving their artists high and dry here but people overreact so much, i think they just want to be bullies cuz it's fun to them

idk how much i agree with the kpop is getting bland thing actually - i do agree that too many mainstream groups are doing the same set of trendy vibes rn (laid-back / y2k / dreamy / some afrobeats / etc.), more so than the trend phases in past generations, it feels like, but i also think that enough groups out there are still doing their own thing that i'm not like, entirely and insufferably bored by the industry as a whole rn. i think some examples of groups that are very much following the trends i mentioned rn are txt, riize, lsf, nj (yes you can argue they started the trend, no i dont think that makes them any less ""bland"" and yes i think their entire discography sounds the same :/... ) but like p1h, svt, even babymon, gi-dle, sort of nct, sort of tbz, i would say are all staying with their own sound / unique enough from the trend that i personally don't feel bored :)

I’ve been into Kpop since the beginning of August of 2018 Loona pulled me into Kpop and It has always had me pinned in a corner, I loved how fun Kpop was during those years But I feel like as far as mid 2023 Kpop music has changed, and not for the better :( Kpop companies need to realize how powerful music can truly be, it should never be about trying to chase popularity, it should be about being It’s own identity to your groups, I can use Loona as an example. Loona has always been about the creative direction, for as much as their music is well loved, they were also widely known for their story the Loonavserse, even after JJ left, Loona still had the charm, they may have changed a little but that didn’t stop them from growing and becoming something beyond wonderful. Even their struggles with BBC had helped influence the current direction of the Loonavserse, the story was once about breaking a loop and saving the world, but now the mission of the Loonaverse is to bring everyone back together as 12, it’s a journey I’ll be here for. If I could also recommend any music from any groups here would be my choices Girl Group: TripleS Boy Group: Younite and E’Last

5:19 so real. I’ve been into kpop for a year now and although there is experimental groups, noise music, happy, energetic, etc. Everything in each category all sounds similar and could easily be compared on a scale of what’s different and what’s similar. Even within their own discography. (I’m not saying they should change the way the song sounds but I feel as if not enough groups put enough twists into their category/genre of music.) I think that singular reason is why I started looking into older kpop groups, soloist, and even started looking into other genres/industries. Another thing to add is this is also why I (and many others) only Stan one group and maybe a few soloists.

no one’s saying asian ppl need to go somewhere else to get their exposure though, just seeing ppl of other races right alongside asian ppl would be pretty cool and would bring a lot of attention to the group. plus ur right, kpop does stand for korean pop but that’s only the language you sing in. look at blackswan. they are kpop even though they have no korean members bc they are managed by a korean company and they sing in korean. that’s all it really takes to be considered kpop.

First off, great to see you, hope you're doing well! I always love watching these videos of yours because it's like a breath of fresh air. So many "that's what I'm saying!!!!" moments. So, I can't find any full info anywhere on how exactly PLAVE uses the motion capture technology, just that they do. I just want to note that motion capture technology does often use AI. That being said, PLAVE is not AI *generated* - which is what it seems people are often assuming/saying. AI technology is such a vast thing, but so many people seem to think it's all the same. AI can be an incredible thing - it can also be a horrible thing. It just depends on how and why it's being used. About diversity in K-Pop. I'm definitely not one of those "keep K-Pop Korean" people - and am cool with the idea of seeing more diversity. I understand why there isn't though, kinda? South Korea isn't a diverse country. In fact, it's one of the most ethnically homogenous nations in the world (literally in the top 5). And iirc, the whole diversity subject is kinda an issue within Korean culture (as many aren't open to it, so to speak). That being said - groups shouldn't be called "global" simply because they may have a member or two of either different ethnicity or nationality. And it's silly - obviously if/when that label comes from the company itself (rather than fans) they are aware it gives them more attention... So like, anyone gonna tell them what ACTUALLY making a "global group" would do? 😅

For me, when a group is “ global “ it does not mean that the members are from different countries, rather, if your goal with your music is to go global or to appeal to many countries and not only one region, then that to me is a global group. This reach or goal is not bad at all as it will push groups to diversify and not do the cookie cutter music that they are always coming out with.

i see it that way too tbh, that’s definitely not what they’re talking abt when mnet for examples says they’re going to make a global group, because the music is still very much kpop-esque, they’re talking abt the members and it’s always so far from being actually global 😭

I hope you are ok now miss/mister or non binary yoshified may I ask a question. Is the boycott of the companies still going on? Is just that it was said that it's only till 1 may so I was confused if it is extended or not and if it is extended than that's great too cause now I am listening to more of my own country songs . Also and please correct me if I am wrong if the companies know that the boycott against some companies are happening can't they have a seminar of a kind with their artist informing them? I actually don't know if this is a bad take cause I am still not an adult and I don't know that much so pls notify me about these things. I hope everyones health is ok 😊

10:46 Because Korea likes uniformity. If you see stadistics regarding etnicity in the country, it is like 99% korean iirc, so yeah, they aren't as a country inclined for diversity, unfortunately

I think global groups refer to there impact out of korea So bts is an global group Nothing to do with where the members are from

they meant where the members are from though, not their impact. if it was there impact, i dont think survival shows would go as far to separate them based on where they’re from

korean pop is just the language they sing in so i think they could add some

@angiebaebii if kpop groups and companies can dibble and dabble in other countries music and dancing and incorporate them into theirs as "concept" they can definitely have foreign members especially if they want that "global attention". I know they have foreigners behind the scenes but they can also have some in front of the camera

@@talardusvenska1519 Oh you mean how K-pop was built off of western pop then over the years developed itself into it's own genre? I find it pretty hypocritical that you can act as though K-pop has it's own standards while a good portion of the songs are sourced from western composers and producers, and remember it is K-pop that is trying to move into the U.S market not the other way around. You should probably learn the industry a little bit better before you start talking about being disrespected.

@@norabeckwith9154 Do you live here? How did this happen? According to the export trade statistics of the Korea Customs Service on July 18, 2023, exports of K-Pop albums have reached an all-time high in the first half of the year. Moreover, the United States has now overtaken China as the second-largest market for K-Pop and music exports, solidifying the genre’s presence in the West. Does that happen without representation?
