Loona is one of my favourite groups because you can see and feel the production value that went into it. I think I heard 4 different basses but there is just going on so much in that chorus. on another note i like your videos but you should consider to fill your wall with some poster or something to get the monocolour out of the background and make it more exciting :)

There's a Sub drop, a Sub bass, a Gritty bass, a Plucky bass, and a Vocal bass I believe lol I wonder how the patch for that gritty bass is made sounds very cool, similar to the one in Zimzalabim.

I personally would say there are 3 distinguishable main basses: the main *womp* bass, the classic dubstep *yoyoyoy* bass, and then the zippy sub bass. I say "main" basses because for every one of those basses, there are fills and variations of those basses to vary the sound. For that *womp* bass, there's a highpass on it and the zippy sub is underneath playing the same part underneath it. also there's a variation of the *womp* that has a longer envelope so instead of a *womp* it's more like a bassy brass stab. The zippy sub sounds like a saw wave with a filter on it, but then the last part of the drop has the filter taken off. That sound also plays in the verses if I'm not mistaken. The *yoyoyoy* bass, I would call a "fill bass" and not a main bass sound. There are two other noticeable sounds in the drop, but I wouldn't really call them "basses" as they're both pretty atonal. Anyway that's what my ears are hearing. Lemme know how well you think I did ig lol...

I haven't watched the interview with David Anthony yet, maybe he mentions it there, but... I think six basses in the chorus: the long-attack impact-ish one, the woopy dirty one popular in SM tracks, the grungy plucky one, the growl, the dirty 808 with no pitch bend, and the wobs at the end of the chorus.
@endax77865 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for reacting!! It's really interesting to hear your thoughts on the production, I would've never noticed the countless bass lines. If you're new to LOONA, I definitely suggest diving in deeper...they have lots of songs of all different genres, and some really amazing production on their songs. I enjoy watching reaction vids, but by far I love the insight from reactors who have worked in the industry, be it producing tracks, creating videos or choreo, etc. It brings to attention more details the next time I listen to songs. There's so much going on in kpop MVs and especially this track. It's incredibly intense and in your face! I'm no audiophile, but I do own a pair of a nice Sennheisers and DJ from time to time, so the detailed explanations of what goes into molding a track is helpful. I love house music especially that dirty, twisted bass house that's a current trend today. So What fits the bill in my book. I look forward to hear your thoughts on more LOONA tracks if you continue, especially their sub-unit ODD Eye Circle (KimLip, Cheorry, Jinsoul). Their album Mix & Match and the members 'edm' singles (Eclipse, Love Cherry Motion, Singing In The Rain) are insanely brilliant. Seriously top-notch. I'll be sure to check out more of your vids, cheers bro! Also props for putting ViVi in the thumbnail, she deserves more! Subbed!

@@AZODi Yes! I just finished watching it. I had a bunch of questions running thru my mind before, but David covered all of it. I can totally see his personality and character in the track itself now that I know of him a little. Thanks again for reaching out to him. Sometimes i hear people say kpop has no soul and the industry is like a machine churning out songs left and right blah blah. Although when you really look into the behind the scenes, you find talented artists who are extremely passionate and pour their heart into their creations and it's refreshing to hear! Cheers! Keep it up!

@@Jacob-Pogicat great! thanks i appreciate it and yeah, you can def get davids vibe in the song cant you? haha i think people say that about any pop based genre of music in all honesty, i've heard that said for years! i think people just don't know what goes on behind the scenes or being popular as a genre its considered less skilled or something. to be fair, why would they know at the same time? only a few people really understand what's going on when you compare it to the entire worlds population! something i have seen a few times in the west and i've heard friends mention this too, is K/J-pop is a genre people can "dip into" or "whip up a track" as if its less of a genre to write in, more like a throw away thing to do in your spare time. it is a genre that needs your full attention, time, study and you really need to dig deep to write in this style! yeah most def, its great to see producers and topliners who really love working in the genre!!

Thank you for detailed break down and comments. I like the building up a tension and break but, still feel lacking something. I think Kpop in general is too short or quick. I'd like to see a sort of real apex of hype after a break. Recently, I see more variety of styles and genre in Kpop, moombathon, 2-step or uk garage, tech dnb, dub step... Yeah, I really happy about hearing such elements in Kpop but, I think Kpop has never brought out (I mean) "real" moombathon, dnb or whatever so far. I'm not complaining of genre things. I love Kpop but I think Kpop need some hardcore in sometimes. I want they dig a little bit more. Do not release everything too early and easily...please.

@@AZODi yup, i found the article "The group were asked about the unexpected involvement of infamous SM Ent producer Lee Soo Man on the album. Yves answered the question saying: "Producer Lee Soo Man got to know about us while working on his global project. Our "Cherry Bomb" cover caught his eye, and he thought that we have potential, so he willingly participated in the making of our album as a producer". Yves also added: "It was an honour to be able to work with him, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Lee". This is the first time Lee Soo Man has produced for an artist who isn't signed to SM Entertainment."

yeah i think i may hear a few of annas vocals in there too, more in the harmonies? ive written a few songs with her in the past and i can kinda recognize her tone, but im not 100% on it!

@@AZODi They also said it was Taeyeon's vocals to give Loona publicity and support from other fandoms. It's Jinsoul's voice in all its glory.

Fair point! I’m not here to object tho, I’m here to explain what’s going on, but yeah, I do really like it so it may come across as just promo lol

@@AZODi I appreciate the polite response and your honesty. I know I can be sometimes too blunt, but if you like the song, that's fair. I didn't finish the video, so perhaps you were more professional in your analysis that your initial reaction after just a few seconds, in which case I apologize.
