Hi guys, sorry I didn't update anything for the last 2 months, I was very busy at work 🥲Uploading this video that I forgot I have ready to go ❤️‍🔥
Today’s kpop literally makes me very disappointed, especially if you compare the quality of live singing that is today on music shows and what it was back in late 2000s and early 2010s. So i just wanted to do little tribute of my favorite groups from that era.
PS. I am still working on my IN-DEPTH Guides. Part 3 is hardest to finish as there lots of information needs to be included. I hope I will be able to finish it by the end of this year 😭💪🏼

I’m enough with the excuse “their dance are so hard that to sing is too much” 2nd gen dances is not that easy either I think. So rather that giving excuses and lip-syncing just to look good, better they show what they’re best at.. 😄 I don’t think 2nd gen are the best or flawless, but they’re not faking their performance and give their best.. that’s why I love them 😍

That excuse contradict so much with the pride kpop fans used to have in saying "Kpop idols can dance hard and still sing very well" when comparing Kpop idols to other (mostly American and English) artists' live vocals and performances. What happened to that? Now it's all about "idols don't need to be good at singing. Visuals and dance are where it at" Being able to sing live and having stable live vocals were still important during 2nd gen. I think the over editing and processing the Korean music shows love to do excessively on live singings now doesn't help either. And I think a lot of idols and producers or whoever making the decisions seem to forget that adlibs, the background harmony, just random shouting and hyping each other (which can't be done with the mics off) are what makes the live performances different from just listening to stereo versions. And endearing to the audiences.

As a fan from the same era, I would like to congratulate and say "You've worked hard, guys" to all my 2nd gen groups❤ Also, I agreed with your statement on 3:25 > Hand mic barely or not even used now as lipsynch is common already. Another thing, as I remember, most of 2nd gen idols are always "competing" in making adlibs or singing high note when they performed. That's why there's exist a battle in high note in shows before. Not a battle in lipsynch. Edited: I'm crying and felt overwhelmed because you include B.A.P in this video😭 They're talented but the company was shitty on them.

I think it was SHINee that introduces synchronized dance (plus recorded the first dance practice and put it online) with Lucifer, but since that song came out the same year as Infinte debut, I guess it's both groups lol. SHINee also sings live to this day at all the music shows when they are promoting a new comeback either in group or solo. I'll be forever grateful to them for their songs and their existence in general

You included all of my favorites! Beast/Highlight, Block B, Infinite, Shinee, and Big Bang! The other groups also have songs that I love! I really miss 2nd gen. The new gen is all about performance and making this impressive dance/stage which is great in a way but I listen to music because I love music and I want to hear live vocals. It is just so different and I really miss the performances that the live vocals brought us, the different mixes or the surprise ad-libs that we hadn't heard before. Ugh, it was so good.

Thank you for introducing some new groups like Block B (I like Zico as solo artist), B.A.P... I knew most 2nd gen groups, just never grew into them. Even when they are mostly bashed for their voice at first but we see they progressing and improve each comeback. Also 2nd generation kpop having so many concepts and didn't stuck with same melody for their songs like nowdays the songs from some groups just sounds the same with their other songs too. We got ballad specialist group too like the seeya and 2AM which is rare or maybe already extinct now. And back then we don't take it too hard over our idols talking to other groups with different gender.

😅 This is really nostalgic, i remember infinite (and also maybe Vixx) was the best for synchronized dance at the beginning of that decade (2010s), then Exo came with even better dance, and after that all the groups became more concerned with dance than vocal... I don't know from when, for sure the groups of that generation still have good quality live vocals... indeed, from the beginning lipsync was always there, but it's not as bad as now...

Ur video makes me realized why i never into kpop, when i was teenager, i prefered ballad n hip hop eg jo sungmo n dj doc, i mean i was there since beginning, i remember in my school days, Kangta was very popular in my country mostly becoz of his good look, similar with TVXQ, esp jaejoong...eventho they have great vocal n amazing choreos, but i felt they were boring.....their vocals mostly have similar tones n styles, while the music not interesting at all... they didn't evoke any emotions from me....until i saw bigbang...i felt in love at the 1st sight while watching their documentary in 2006...till now only bigbang can give so much emotions with their music n talents, they maybe not the best vocalists or dancers but definitely the best performers 👑👑👑👑👑

I think it deserves mention that SHINee always sang live (still does) while doing very difficult and complex choreography. Thanks also to SHINee for starting the trend of posting dance practice videos. And their dance practice vids were real dance practices, not the perfected "let's pretend we're practicing" videos of today. I love many groups across all generations, but it's sad that the companies today rely so heavily on the mechanical rather than the organic.

If any newer gen fans take this as offense, call me conservative, go ahead: as idols, their main selling point is a song. They sell albums and concerts, which core product is a song. I regard the dance and performance, but they are first and foremost, a singer. A singer sings. They could take a break during a song, personally I appreciate a missed note or funny strained voice (we still support them anyway) rather a "perfect" robotic lipsynced live performance. It takes away the "live" meaning 😔
