I'm glad you're making your own BOV system. That's way more interesting to watch then you strapping a speaker to your RC with zip ties.

The stu stu stu sound is actually called compressor surge and occurs when there is no blow off valve and the air comes back through the turbo.
@damoncatlin7344 жыл бұрын
exactly and the long pshhhhhhh sound is from the blow off valve and stu stu stu is the absence of one

Explain why my s14 sounded like that with a BOV. it had a greddy type R on t518z turbo pushing 18 lbs of boost. Some BOV are tuned to do that so there is still SOME pressure left in the charge pipe so when you open throttle again you dont lag, spool response is much better.
@cutlerc23514 жыл бұрын
Christopher Rea either way, that sound is still caused by back pressure. Not the actual BOV

A solenoid valve would be quicker acting allow less gas out than that mechanical valve and more reliable. 👍🏼😃
@Hellsong894 жыл бұрын
True, but you would still need regulator between the canister and solenoid, cause there is around 850psi pressure inside in room temperature, but it limits pressure, so to get that amount flow, you would need larger diameter solenoid and bigger you go slower it is to open and shut. Its pretty hard to find 12v solenoid valve that can operate with that amount pressure and is light enough to be even considered to be put into RC car. Also price is another issue cause those aint cheap.

Maybe you could find one of those tiny turbochargers that are like key chain sized, have it attached to a motor to turn it, have it dump into a container you want it to store the air for release, then you wouldn't need to worry about blowing off too much compressed air.

When you mentioned that it sounded like a nitrous purge, it is because it is the same pressure when it opens and when it closes. With a blow off valve the systems pressure is vastly less when it closes to when it opened. Making the noise drop. So, maybe you could open it fast and close it slowly.?? You could possibly charge (with compressed air) a small container/resivior and release the air out of that to get the desired surge?
@reggienephew67534 жыл бұрын
Your very talented buddy. Loved the blow off valve you designed

Im working on motor sound with a juice box. Ive made something close to a blow off valve. Working on testing sounds with a drill gun with a squared bolted end. You could make a lil simble connected to a servo or something but i would want the sound automaticly made if you ask me but idk. I like you work tho on all your vids i 3d print and cnc Cad rc prototypes as well. Good work.

Actually the blow off valve relieves intake pressure for when then exhaust turbine no longer has energy to continue force feeding it. Typically uses the vacuum generated from the throttle plate closing, but it’s to correct a pressure differential between the exhaust and intake wheels.
