You have no idea HOW excited I was to see this posted! J.L Kraft is my 3x great uncle. His younger sister, Ivy Mae Kraft (originally Krafft - J.L's grandparents came from Germany in the early 1800s) is my great, great grandmother. My family still has old family photos, a published family recipe book from the 80's, and still live in the same town where the family's from. Edit: I had no idea about the Kraft television theater! 😁 really amazing to learn new information on the days when J.L was alive, after so many years of family stories! Fun family tale: I've been told the second F in Krafft was dropped, because a signmaker forgot the second F on a sign made for one of his first business ventures and he just went with it. My assumption now is that it was dropped to sound less German, since it seems as if all his siblings legally went by Kraft (census records and such confirm this, doesnt seem like a business decision but rather their parents decision)😁

Does the Kraft family still have a stake in the business? How is it able to sustain so much descendants
@orangeradishneo3 жыл бұрын
@@deantan4080 I'm not entirely sure about any monetary gain family have received, I wish I knew! J.L had one daughter, who married and had 3 kids (still alive today by my records). So there's only 3 'direct' decendants of J.L I know of. Rest of us are all extended family, great neices and nephews! It doesn't seem like the brothers that worked with him at Kraft had any kids, most of the decendants come from J.Ls sisters! One of them being my great, great grandmother, who had 12 kids herself! And half HER kids (one is my great grandma, who died just after I was born) went onto have their own kids! It's crazy how big families can get with just a few generations! I'm obsessed with browsing through my family tree, seeing all the different people I'm related to in some way or another. My uncle has over 11k people on his tree! "Kraft was spun off. Kraft stood alone." I think you mean, "the cheese stands alone." 😁

Fun fact: Kraft Dinner is quite popular up in Canada to the point that Canadians are the highest consumer of the product in the world. It is up there with poutine as one of our national dishes. Even South Park poked fun at us over it! We also refer to it as Kraft Dinner and not Macaroni and Cheese. To think that it all came from a born Canadian. So crazy. 🍁

If you haven’t done it already, you should do Heinz. Once Warren Buffett got involved Heinz as a company has sucked.

I used to work for a Kraft warehouse distribution center. I was blown away by how many products they own. Oscar Mayer, Maxwell House, Post cereal, Velveeta, Nabisco, and tons more. It was crazy. They even had the distribution rights to Taco Bell and White Castle.

I'm sorry, but that had to be the least enthusiastic, least sincere sounding "I'd like to hear what you have to say" I've heard since I started watching this channel three years ago. You aren't coming down with something are ya?

Great history about Kraft!! Excellent history lesson as always!! Speaking of dairy products: I heard Bordens mentioned!! For years I thought Bordens was only relevant in the southeast region of the U.S. Louisiana, Texas, Alabama etc. But found out It went even further. It would be cool to hear some history on Bordens dairy inc., (hint, hint) just throwing it out there!! Again Good job!!

I grew up in NW Illinois and Kraft was a major employer, with their main plant in Stockton, IL. Chances are if you lived in that area didn’t farm, or work on a farm, you worked for Kraft. Aside from cheese I know that as a salad dressing/condiment manufacturer. I believe they’re still the segment leader in salad dressings.

In Canada, we call it Kraft Dinner. And it's very popular we use it interchangeably with no name / grocery store brands macaroni and cheese.

It's from Dorothea Lang's "Migrant Mother" series she made for the Farm Security Administration. The woman in the picture is a 32 year old pea picker in California, who told Lang her family was eating whatever vegetables they could get from the fields, plus any birds her kids killed.

A video on the tobacco companies would be interesting I use to work at a smoke shop and realized all these different brands of cigarettes and yet there are only 2 companies
@whyisgamora54353 жыл бұрын
Which 2??
@natedog7693 жыл бұрын
@@whyisgamora5435 RJ Renyolds with their primary brand as Camel and Philip Morris with their primary brand of Mallboro. These 2 companies not only control the cigarette market but also every chewing tobacco, every cigarillo, every snus, nearly every brand is owned by them. These 2 companies are insanely huge and even have political influence and I dont think enough people are aware of what kind of power these companies have
