I would say the YPG635 would sound better when played through the on-board speakers. The YPG635 speakers are a bit larger and more powerful than the YPG235 speakers. Well, I'd say the keyboard itself is quite portable. However, I wouldn't necessarily consider the included stand to be portable. The furniture-style stand thats included with the YPG635 is not really intended to be repeatedly assembled and disassembled. I'd recommend using a portable keyboard stand when traveling and leaving the furniture stand at home. Check out our STAGE ESSENTIALS BUNDLE for an example. Thanks for your question. If you want to plug into your computer's stereo line input (back of the unit/sound card), you would need a cable that is 1/4 inch stereo on one side and 1/8 inch stereo on the other side. The 1/4 inch side will plug into the phones output of the keyboard and the 1/8 inch end will plug into the computer. Thanks for your interest. Your keyboard is already a MIDI keyboard. Simply take a standard USB cable from the YPG625 to your computer and you can use any music production, notation, or lesson software. If you'd like to record digital audio from the instrument, just take a stereo 1/4 inch audio cable out of the headphone jack on the keyboard and plug into the line inputs of your computer. The YPG635 features a progressive hammer weighted action (like a piano), and the YPG535 features a semi-weighted action (like an organ or synth). @Fudgezilla Hi, Thanks for your interest in the YPG635. This instrument sounds great when plugged into a PA system. You are correct, the instrument does not have dedicated line outs so you'll need to use the headphone jack. I haven't found this to introduce any static or noise to the signal...in fact, you are hearing the phones jack in this video. Please keep in mind, the YPG635 has been replaced with the newer DGX640. Thanks for watching. The Yamaha YPG635 ships from Yamaha with a small plastic footswitch. This switch can be used as a sustain pedal. You could also add a single Yamaha FC4 piano style sustain pedal or a LP5 triple pedal board. The LP7 triple pedal board would give you access to all three pedals found on an acoustic piano (sustain, soft, sostenuto). The only thing i just wanna for sure verify with you is that i will be able plug this into my interface thats plug into my computer and record with pro tools?!! Im very very interested in the 535!! On Yamaha YPG 600 series Digital Pianos, this is what a natural finished cherry wood top board and stand material does indeed look like! I think that it is a cool way that they offer a finish such as this, for when everybody thinks of cherry, they think of the red-violet-brown of Sheffield Cherry, where this isn't always the case! (I used to think that this blonde finish made a piano or organ console look cheap, but don't any longer)! Now, on the new YPG 650, they are mostly piano black, but on the YPG 500 series, which is the lesser, yet still 88 key with pitch bend wheel, these come in a dark walnut, and one or two other finishes! Basically, keyboards such as yours offer the full 88 keys along with hundreds of instrument voices, styles, and songs to learn to play, which is great for just about everyone who enjoys music, (and likes to play it themselves)! The only down side to these is the weight of the unit, (when compared to Yamaha P series, but these only have about 28 voices tops, no styles, or built in songs), while being considerably lighter, however when you step up to this type of keyboard, you'll want (and usually get), graded hammer action with weighted keys, just what a pianist enjoys the most! Also, why not offer a modulation wheel to go along with the pitch bend wheel? This would be awesome in an 88 key board, and one that is not just a MIDI (or USB) controller for your software instruments on a computer!

Hi Dave. Prospective buyer. Was wondering your thoughts on how it sounds plugged into a p.a.? I've heard that there is no true line out and that it would have to be connected through the headphone jack which may cause static or noise....Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have this piano. I was told you can record a song and download it to a USB then upload it to a computer to print the music. Is that really possible??? I haven't figured out how to do it and I can't find anywhere that explains it

You'll use the phone output (1/4 inch stereo) and a splitter cable...plugging into two 1/4 inch line inputs on your interface. You'll need speakers connected to your interface, because plugging into the phone jack mutes the 535's on-board speakers.
