I got the Nex 5T, because it’s cheaper than the 5R. For some reason the 5R is more popular here in Indonesia, therefore the price increase significantly over the “non popular 5T”

I bought a 5N in 2018 then the 5R in 2019 plus a separate EVF that works brilliantly (very expensive). The EVF swivels all the way up to a vertical position which has been extremely useful in some situations and really comes into its own in very bright sunshine rather than trying to see the screen. Autofocus is great but has its limitations and I now use the 5R with adapters and manual lenses for photo/video work.

Had this camera last year, sold it and regret it. It's great and what mirrorless cameras should be. Small, light, compact with a good sized sensor and great image quality with the right lenses. I got some great results with it and the Sigma 30 f/1.4 Need to pick up another one

I have it in a locker, after a fall it has a broken battery door, but the silver tape fixed everything :)) I still feel nostalgic and take it for walks sometimes. It still gives good results if you can handle it. I'll try to put on the 50/1.4GM and see how it amazes me :)

That’s rough. At that point I would just go for the A6000. Can you purchase one overseas and have it shipped? I’ve purchased several from Japan and have them shipped to the USA.

@@namuwu I purchased it to be small and easy camera to take with me. For times when I go out from the door and don't want to take anythig big or expensive with me. Also I wanted to film youtubevideoa with it. To be honest I have been inactive in youtube and also not taken still pictures earher. But right after the purchase I tested the camera and it seemed to be good. It has one adjusting wheel less than A6000 so there is always small compromise when in full manual mode but in other modes it has everyrhing I need for taking good photos. For video it can go for 15-25min before overheating. I purchased thermalpads and metal cage for overheat problem but I have not done the mods yet. Just the thermalpad mod made my a6000 to be able to film unlimited video. So I think the video performance should increase alot after installing thermalpads and metal cage.

Found this camera in a closet today, going by the images it's been sitting in there since 2017. Has the 18-55 lens on it. Ordered some new batteries for it, got 2 plus a charger for 17 bucks new on amazon, should be a fun camera take as a backup for my D850 with the sigma 150-600mm lens :)

I got my NEX5R a few days ago at $135(according to Japanese currency) with a kit lens, everything from the box and another camera case which is a really good price point. Going back to Cambodia to test it soon. That is going to be my girlfriend's first camera as a beginner.

Have one and agree it's a great body. Wish Sony would make a current small body with all the their new improvements, and for me especially SILENT SHUTTER. That's the one sore point for me. It would be a perfect street shooter if the shutter was silent or quieter.

I picked one up for £30 (less than $40) which had the typical early Sony E mount stuck shutter problem. So pretty easy fix to get it back to 100%. Its replaced my A6000 (which was sold to fund a A7R IV, which has become my main camera for both FF and APSC lenses) and its definitely good enough for most cases. Its got that hybrid autofocus and the 16mp combined with the APSC sized sensor really is just about good enough. You can more easily pixel peep but for most realistic use cases its not really an issue. For prints, it holds up exceptionally well at least up to A3+ size (which is the largest printer I have).

What is the simple fix for the stuck shutter?

@taz24787 giving it a whack will usually unstick it temporarily. You can also turn off the electronic second curtain. Opening it up and tightening the spring holding the second shutter fixes it.

I got a 5T for £20 ive gor the 6 and had the 5R the 5T is better then both the autofocus performance is crazy and is nore liken a5000/6000 rather then a nex camera ige also got a a6500. Shame about the build quality or this would be my hiking camera its that good

Definitely the PZ 16-50 lens. The Canon lens won't work with the Sony camera, unless you use an adapter and that will give really poor results for this camera.
