I was there for a 4-week-course at Jagiellonien Uni back in 2010. This is also the very first city I stayed in the Europa, which turned to be one of my favorite cities. Would love to go back!

It's a shame that Polish people pronounce "ą" as "om" and "ę" as "e", even in the end of a word. Now we can say that the last Slavic language that had retained nasal vowels from Proto-Slavic has no nasal vowels anymore.
@2tz02
@2tz02 8 жыл бұрын
Pronunciation of these letters depends on following letters. So it is sometimes pronounced like you wrote. Nasals vowels are in many languages, not only Polish. They are also in English and other languages.
@wingedhussar1117
@wingedhussar1117 8 жыл бұрын
The thing is that nasal vowels are not pronounced in a nasal way anymore even in positions where they still should be pronounced like nasals... The one man for example says "przed drugOM wojnOM swiatowOM" or the girl says "z tom calom zydowskom kulturom".
@2tz02
@2tz02 8 жыл бұрын
I watched the video once again and they pronounce it correctly. "ą" in "przed drugą wojną światową" was pronounced "[-ɔw̃]". Polish nasal vowels consist of an nasal vowel followed by a nasal labialized velar approximant. Polish "nasals" are not like in French.

Ukrainian is much more similar tu Russian language. They use cirilic letters, we use latin letters. More over, although is the same Slavic group of languages, in Polish language we have a lot of german words,like : dach - germ. dach ( roof ), drut - german draht ( wire ), beton -germ beton ( concrete ), jarmark - german: jahrmarkt ( market ), and others: ratusz ( german : Rathaus ) lamus Lehmhaus rynek Ring szyld Schild grunt Grund rynsztok Rinnstein handel Handel geszeft Geschäft kiermasz Kirmesse knajpa Kneipe szpital Spital plac Platz kanclerz Kanzler wójt Vogt mistrz Meister sołtys Schultheiss furman Fuhrmann rycerz Ritter kuśnierz Kürschner drukować drucken radzić raten stempel Stempel fałsz falsch gmina Gemeinde warunek wahr weksel Wechsel fach Fach szacować schätzen wyklarować klar handel Handel Nobody knows in Poland how many french words we have for example; walizka - franc: la valisse makijaż - franc: maquillage kostium - costiume fotel - le fauteuil balkon - balcon parkiet - parquet and many others .....

How do you guys have the nerve to call this channel Easy Polish. If you don't speak anything it's frustrating at best and discouraging at worst. There's no way I could follow at the speed you talk. No way.
