Primitive off grid log cabin build part 2

I have looked for videos for a very long time for someone to use 6 x 6's to build a cabin. What you have built has not disappointed what I have only dreamt about. Looks really good and super strong.

I like the build. I just bought some land and have a bunch of really nice hemlock that I'm going to cut into 6x6 and build with. The center of hemlock have a very nice red color.

I think I’d rather do piers and a wood floor for where I’m at, but using a slab is a solid way to go for sure.

Did you use the Olylog screws into the end logs (horizontally) on the ends, as well as vertically? I can see doing both, as it sucks the end log into the other logs horizontally, and pulls them close together. I couldn't tell exactly from the video. Your build is inspiring and I am going to do the same (or similar) as soon as the snow is gone here. Mine will be 24x28 and I am going to use 5x5 rough sawed timbers, so the dimensions are actual 5x5 as they are not milled smooth. Thanks for the video.

i got them for $2.80 a foot, they was #3 tho, meaning they had cracks and some knots, holes ect. About $3300 and had a few left over . built the outhouse with extra and such

I'm curious as to why you would go with 6x6s or 4x6s instead of the typical house framing with studs and insulation. Is it a cost benefit? Something with insulation? Or just like the look? I'm not knocking it, I'm just curious.

Probably cost. In pt 1 he mentions he in alabama I believe, somewhere in the south that's always warm. No need for insulation. This is probably a cheap option to having a sweet cabin

I’m thinking about building something similar, it would be just like a log cabin just a little smaller, but you wouldn’t have to insulate it because the thickness of the post would be your insulation. You can still add whatever you wanted to on the inside walls to make it look like you want it to. Or the outside if you choose to later on. Plus it would be a lot cheaper than a real log cabin.
