Atm.. Since im leveling rather fast past the max level for my heirlooms. I dont need to upgrade them. The 50% exp buff does wayyy to much for me. Especialy now that im leveling my double class alts. You know. Second shaman, second mage, warrior and so on. Always nice for gold farming and transmog. AND mounts.

The rested EP is even better while playing a panda, since those store up to 300% instead of the usual 150%. So if you are a heavy twinker, it's pretty neat.

If only they would add gloves, belt, boots, and wrists to heirlooms. I hate having to deal with those slots. Going to be honest, just put in 1-2 more hours at your job. Buy a WoW token to sell. Easy 292,961g right now. Max out a ton of your heirlooms with out spending weeks grinding for coins /tokens / waiting around for holidays.

During Mid Summer it's actually pretty easy to get 2 upgrade tokens per character. If you get all the fires and do dailies a few times and you will have enough. Also, for timewarped badges, the quest line "The deaths of Chromie" in Legion, Dalaran awards the badges. Plus, *during Timewalking events* the scenario "The Deaths of Chromie" also has a chance of awarding the badges as an option from the hourglasses. Also, if you complete all 8 objectives under the time limit it doesn't kick you out and you can monotonously go in circles farming them.

I want wrist, hands, waist, and feet heirlooms so bad! It would be awesome to just level up without having to worry about those four slots whatsoever and while having your whole gear set transmogged the whole time. I also miss the days when you could just grind Heroic dungeons for Justice to buy heirlooms.

You are a lifesaver. The burning blossoms one is definetly gonna be useful...if only i knew this 2 years ago...😅 got almost every heirloom and they are all at least upgrade level 1, and my main pieces are upgrade lvl 4-5. But the amount of gold i spent...i dread to think how much time ive wasted on this game just for a new character 😂 blizz really need to lower the price at least a bit on the heirloom upgrades because unless your an ah salesmen, you aint gonna have enough gold to do any upgrades for at least 3 days. But since not all of us sit on tbis game every hour of every day...those 3 days...turns into 2 weeks. Sooooo yeah, thank you so much for this. Im a bit late but at least ive still got september and october to at least get something 😅😅

Of note, this year seems to allow characters to get 6 "Striking Back" Daily quests that give 10 badges each, giving 60 per day. This can let a character get over the number needed for 2 upgrade tokens per alt

One thing worth considering, especially for the holidays, is if the pets and other cosmetics are selling fast enough and at a high enough price to be a better value than the heirlooms. It does mean more time spent in order to sell the cosmetics, but if, for instance, you can use holiday tokens to buy a pet worth 50k gold, that can make it worth the time to post it because it becomes as much gold as 10 of the 5k heirloom tokens, often at the same price for holiday currency. this is especially the case if you can set up so that you are always selling the cosmetics AFTER the event is over, to get the most gold for your time. However, this is obviously depending on server, unless you are buying pets and flipping them on faster selling servers to buy the heirlooms there. For instance, you can get pets from the argent tournament vendors that sell reasonably fast for pets, and that usually go for a great deal more than the cost of the heirloom upgrades. Likewise there are cases like the timewalking burning crusade vendors that sell fishing bags that can contain some ultra expensive mogs if you want to play the loot bags and try your luck compared to the more certain cosmetics for sale for the same currency. For timewalking in particular, its also worth considering the value of the profession recipes locked behind rep that you can get more easily by using the rep tokens to unlock those older recipes. Many older profession recipes can be hard from hard to farm reputation, so worth considering if in the long term you're better off by spending currency towards those reputations if the items you can craft through those reputations end up being more profitable than what you could buy directly with currency The other thing to consider is if you want the heirlooms first, or the cosmetics the vendor sells first. In my case, as a mount collector, i would rather farm all the mounts from the timewalking vendors of each expansion, and possibly the recipes and toys, rather than what would give me the most gold in the short term. The only way to get some of the cosmetics are these holiday and event specific vendors. In the case of time walking, you are waiting for potentially half a year to get that specific expansions items to show up for sale again, and for the holiday items that's a guarenteed 1 year wait if you aren't able to farm up all the cosmetics while the event is live. All of this to say that when choosing to buy heirlooms, take into account not just the value of the heirlooms, but the opportunity cost of using them on heirlooms compared to a greater long term option like pets, mounts, and if lucky more gold for more heirlooms than if you had bought the heirlooms directly. That's also assuming you even want heirlooms for certain level ranges on certain alts. There are MANY vendors with MANY gear sources. if you are really pressed for gold, you can using the ah to filter "usable on character only" items in armor and gear and simply buy cheap 50 gold armor pieces as you level and need better gear. its a bigger annoyance than heirlooms that autoscale, and does lack the benefits of rest xp consumption, but that might be worth the sacrifice if you, say, only plan to level 1 plate wearer and thus don't see yourself needing heirlooms for that alt enough to justify the initial cost of heirloom upgrades. Likewise, heirlooms have increased value if, say for instance, you are making 25 drakthyr on 25 servers to get the bonus higher starting level each time you do. You can just get a set of heirlooms once, and use that same set across all dracthyr. This is especially worth considering if you only level a single cloth set that can be used by non clothies specifically to only get the rested xp bonus. For combat the cloth set would be a significant downgrade for any other gear type. But if all the leveling you're doing doesn't require good gear to level from (ie pet battle leveling, archeology, crafting profession leveling in dragonflight, gathering profession xp, dailies at the faire, and any other number of ways to peacefully gain xp), then all you need is 1 set of cloth to gain the benefits of rested xp, rather than upgrading all the heirlooms and gear sets for each armor type;

originally i got my heirlooms via the Faire, and i upgraded with gold, as i wanted to save my other currencies for unlockable holiday goods. was no different this time for the level 70 upgrades as i wanted to just get it over with. now during the event i'm getting at least one toon to 70 in a day. gonna have to step it up if i want to get everybody to 70 in time,

I have no reason to have more than my 13 class mains at max. Most old content can be easily farmed on second max (60) and if needed, second max has access to current content too.

Thanks Kraken for putting the time and effort to do this. Question… do you upgrade all of them or just some per armor type? Just out of curiosity. Nowadays, as an example, I upgrade the of the Might plate heirlooms and skip upgrading the other plate pieces. Again, thank you for what you do!

Honestly I gopt an alt army with 6x70 and 9x60+ if you do just the fly quest with that army you get like 100k per week in df. you get that done faster then running around ad collect buckets/fires

Upgrading my Heirlooms is the first time I found my self buying gold. The upgrade costs are digesting the not worth the time invested. I spent $11 for 300k gold and was able to finish the upgrades for every single armor type

This was a good video! I had spoken to you years ago about upgrades in a video you did about the Halloween event I believe. But at the time you felt it was better to go for the goodies. Times have changed and the upgrades have gotten expensive. So it was nice to see you cover all of them and break them down. I did not know about the Time Warped Badges. The weapon upgrades are so expensive and the other two events to earn them are so boring and grindy. Love is in the Air the drop rate is so low. You actually need a mage to spam Arcane Blast in a low level area and deal with a lot of competition. Brewfest is just riding a ram over and over and over again. Ad nauseum. Let me get back to collecting Blossoms. Just wanted to leave a comment to boost your algorithm. Plus a like.

Good guide. Thanks for another informative video I bit the bullet and bought all the DF upgrades as soon as they were out (full set of each armor type, trinkets and weapons) for the army. Gearing is not my thing, I want to put it on and forget it! Transmogs are fun, stat gear is not. As I'm flying about on lowbies with Midsummer, I may upgrade some of the others, or buy more battlepets to flip, idk. I found out discovery xp sucks for the 60+ honoring/putting out fires 61xp some low amount like that, versus the lvl 40 gets 600+. I already have one alt that 'holds' the heirlooms that are enchanted for sub 50, 50-60 and now 61-70. She holds all the stuff for leveling - renown guild cloak. One GB slot is for leveling pots, food, the Darkmoon Faire turn in items, etc.
