Always enjoy your work and ingenuity. I have used many of your maintenance and repair techniques and they work well. Question: On the Saw Blades which I did get them from Amazon like you I was curious to know if you ever switch to different size Blade or do you select the thinnest one in the pack and use the same one for every Nut Slot? What I did was I started with the thinnest on the Low E String and then as I got to the thicker strings went a little thicker on the Blade. I too did have one or two Blades break. I bought the same guitar used. It. came in excellent condition. Got lucky with the fret job. Its quite decent actually. I had to slightly file the nut, and changed the tuners and pick guard right away. I had an old set of Jackson tuners. I needed a beater so my MM. JP6 and my Gibson LP Traditional can stay safe from my cats. Now it plays really good. I posted a vid.

Hi Tony! I had to spend a LOT of time fixing the frets. They spouted more than bean stalks. This one was a lot of work!

I have to ask why you didn't check/level frets? Also, there is a safer/better way to sand frets. They don't need individual sanding just for fun. They don't need to be sanded at all...400 grit wet or dry is the heaviest you want to use. A "better" way if I may, is to use a board that covers several frets and LIGHTLY "sand" with a deft touch to be sure you follow the radius. This way you are not cutting frets down at different amounts, or making flat spots. Always check/level/crown/dress the ends/polish. A second thing is ALWAYS have the guitar in playing position for the relief measurement- done by capo-ing the first fret, holding the strings where the neck meets the body, and measuring with a feeler gauge (.010-.006") at the 9th fret. Don't leave this crucial measurement to "eyeball". Just a couple of thoughts.

I like your video.i can't say that I would switch any of my procedures to yours but that is irrelevant. You have established a successful routine and that's perfect. I bin coveting a VT 211S for a few months now but dangit they look and sound identical to 20 or so other cheap strats I have accumulated. I'm recovering from g.a.s. so this Kramer, as cheap and nice as it is, embodies the temptation that I MUST overcome. I have deep appreciation for cheap, 2nd hand lovelies which I tear down refinish and set up to (my idea of) perfection. I'm 75, retired and every one of my days has a few ongoing guitar projects at priority. Life is good thanks to cheap bottom feeder guitars. No Fender junk in my plans thanks anyway!! Yuk yuk.

I bought this guitar because of its price and its name-brand. I had as much trouble as you did in setting it up. It took forever. The fret ends were AWFUL! Very disappointed in it.

I've never met anyone who've bought the guitar without having fret issues. To me you shouldn't have to work on a guitar that you just bought. That goes for Squire as well. Just pay the extra and get a guitar that is good out of the box. These belong in the fireplace....

I used to think the same thing. But as players we have to be our own guitar tech or pay the pro shops for their work over and over again. High end guitars require work out of the box
