Kraton 8s Castle 800kv and a 45t pinion

Nice!! I just dropped a saga 45T into my Limitless yesterday. 45T pinion /29T spur... Thing hit over 100mph @ 54% throttle in a short run!! And I was just trying to do a quick shakedown run to make sure temps weren't going to be an issue. No issues with temps at all, 97F on the XLX2 & 109F on motor (1717 1650kv). Pulled only 231A/ 9.8HP @ 54%throttle. We'll see what top speed I can get 🙄 with the 34T pinion & 29T spur I was hitting 122mph @ 92% throttle. Great content bro! 😎👍

I have MMX 8S and I am just affraid how solid it is, no problems, non one... Lets hear from other people what are experiences, but I think that Castle hit the home run with this ESC!

50mph in tall, wet grass with belted tires is insanely fast, and I don't think people realize that. It would easily be 55mph maybe even 60mph on pavement... Extremely good speed!

I’m running a 39/39 800 kv, only issue, I need more wheel speed in the air. Very hard to do flips. A 1100 kv does the trick but it’s a short can and coggs. I may have to go with different gearing or a coke can motor but it’s heavy and leans to that side in the air. Still working on it. 👍💯

I've been watching all your videos with the Castle system and I am on the fence whether or not to pick up this system. Between the mount, pinion, and system I'm looking at about $1000 CDN. I was able to drive a X-Maxx with this system and it was super smooth. Only thing was the truck I drove was extremely under geared so I didn't really get to see much improvement in speed compared to mine. Decisions, decisions. :) Great video btw.

yeah its a heck of an expensive purchase for the truck. Many have fun with a 23t pinion and silicone ear plugs in the center diff and call it done.

Can I ask where you get your pinion gears. I just got a Kraton 8s and I'm disappointed in the power. I'm going to upgrade to the 1100kv but can't locate pinions.

In my R/C experience if you try n miss a tree or post or a big weed in your case you’ll hit it every time but if you aim for it you seem to miss it every time lol

Hey Joe. I may be mistaken but I think you are supposed to remove that plastic crescent shaped insert at the front of your left side panel to allow for bigger cans......

What this needs is the new 39t spur from Arrma or the 39t spool for the infraction and a 39T or 35t pinion from Saga Customs. That's what I would run for the 800kv.

Do you have an idea my kraton8 with 40t pinion gets extremely hot just running it for about 1-2mins and the front tires glitch/gobble REALLY bad from a stand still and i give it throttle

The 40t pinion shouldn’t cause heat issues with the 800kv motor. What esc and motor are you running!

Hey I have a Arrma outcast 8s stock on badlands I was 25 tooth pinion and the truck was fast My 1250kv motor shaft broke while running it . Should I contact horizon hobby or just buy a new motor ? What do you suggest ? 1100kv 800kv. ?

That’s a known issue with them. If you want to go big, go 800kv and gear it 43/47 or even higher at 45/47 if you don’t mind a bit shorter run time

I understand that you want more speed but running a 45t pinion is rough on your esc and batteries. The amp spikes are extreme and don't have to be. Increase the voltage even if it means a bigger esc. With boat speed setups we see speeds of 120+ mph on 12s2p with 1030kv motors. If over propped expect a fire works show in the hull. As John Holmes has said volts up pinion down. Brushless motors are more tolerant to excess amps than a speed controller based on the materials used to construct each of them. Not trying to be a pita but been around big brushless setups for a long time they are on my channel. Love your channel just offering up what we do on another side of the rx community!

oh yeah I agree completely, for me, in this case it was too much. In the Xmaxx I run a 45t with 54 spur all day long and its perfect. But we never find the limits unless we push and sometimes go too far. 40t is where it will stay for this truck.

I've recently done 1 to 1 gearing on mine with the same setup and I wasn't impressed, it just didn't feel overpowered like i was expecting. I feel like my max5 with hobbystar 840kv motor was better. I may try some overgearing on her maybe try a 40/34....before I throw the hobbystar on her or go full on 12s.

The stock system with a 25t gets ya 53mph so this set up probably isn't where you are going to end up 🤣 Lots of guys are running 1:1 gearing with 2 limitless spool gears with that motor and ESC 👍

I'm working on my mojave today, Castle Monster x 8s and the castle 1650 is going in. That should be the final setup for that truck, unless we get a sensored 2200 kv 1717 motor...

Man I’m getting buyers remorse about this XLX to 800 KV combo it’s going to go in my Creighton 8S and replace the spektrum 8S 160 amp ESC combo but I keep seeing these videos where it’s only carrying these vehicles at about 55 miles an hour and for that much money I expect more
