It's interesting that Kratos refers to the incident as "the day my family died," it shows that he still feels the pain of what he did.

Its a pain that he can never bring himself to let go. It goes beyond guilt to an active choice. He cannot, will not, let it happen again. To that end he reopens the wound carves it into his soul himself so the deed and duty that follows will not be forgotten.

Chains of Olympus holds a special place in my heart because It was the only god of war game I had at the time. I did play all of them . But that was the one I played consistently. Almost beat it on god mode too. I couldn’t beat the last boss. sad days I remember that scene.

Giving Kratos a permanent buddy was really smart, narrative-wise, on top of being a cool idea from the Norse mythology.

The worst part of this is that he literally said to calliope "i am here now child, and i will not leave you again" when he finally get to see her again while he was smiling at her, only to literally have to abandon her forever the next minute.

Quick question : If both Hades and Persephone are dead in the gow universe... Does this means that the souls in Elysium are released, much like the ones that left after Hades's death in gow3? Would Calliope be roaming around out of Elysium?
@hargous10 ай бұрын
Been thinking about that too since the release of GoW 3.

I’ve thought about it too since both Persephone and Hades are dead which means it might have been destroyed though I’m not sure if it truly did happen

I think the various afterlives created/ruled by the gods are traps, in a way. The GoW series seems to be leaning in a gnostic direction, so a afterlife based on a pantheon would be a distraction from the true spiritual universe beyond. Whether the distraction is a deliberate power grab or a midtake by its creator is uo to each pantheon, hades's underworld seems like a power grab while theblake of souls is more a rest stop for the souls passing through. So calioppe and the rest of kratoss famiky would have long moved on from this world entirley. Least thats how i see it right now, probably wrong.

That's a possibility. Another possibility is that without the gods of death to guide them new souls cant reach Elysium but the souls that were there already were spared the apocalypse.

It's pretty hard to be sad about this when you remember that Kratos abandoning Calliope was a quick time event
@newfoundwisdom853210 ай бұрын
I remember someone delving into that subject and pointing out how normally quick time events are Kratos using his full strength to kill something, like the minotaur kills in 1 and 2. All brutal, aggressive and unrelenting displays of strength and power. And that it basically took the *same* amount of strength to commit to the decision to push away and forsake Calliope in order to save her from Persephone. Which immediately gave me a newfound appreciation for Chains I had not thought possible.

@@newfoundwisdom8532 It is an interesting thought, but I still think that period of video games WAY overused QTE.

Yeah. Let us hope she is not depressed. Sad. Watching depressive sad boring dark pointless things. Drinking. Smocking. Drugging. Ah, she has made drinking friends so they can waste their lives and be all sad together now. But sure, let us hope she is all right. Most likely, she is not. Unless Mr. Excellence is currently watching over her. Why am I even concerning myself with her fate, again? Anyway. There are other women I have affinities with. We might have ended up married, thought. Bah. Nothing is over just yet.
