We Death Battle fan are spoiled as hell, we get banger after bangers and people still complain and nitpick over the quality of this episode. while this may not be the best DB, this battle was goated as hell and respected both characters and their stories

The complaints, or rather fair criticisms, are actually justified, though. It's entertainment first and foremost but let's not forget that this is their job. They made a few mistakes and glazed Kratos too much, as people pointed out, with statements that shouldn't be comparable to Asura's actual feats. I love Kratos to death but calling it "nitpicking" is a bit far fetched. Personally, the fight itself was a bit of a letdown as well. Not in terms of animation but in terms of versatility and length. I was expecting a 6-9 minute epic fight between two brawlers, occasionally reserting to distant attacks but it was the opposite. The setup didn't make much sense either, additionally Asura stayed in 2 of his forms for about 10 seconds. His Mantra form which he used for one or two attacks and his Berserk form which only lasted for 2 attacks as well. I expected a lot more in that regard.

But I think this is for the better he probably thought about Ashura last words and the reaction of his daughter so he stayed in the after life and then he came back after some time to Atreus side to keep his realm safe as the all father.

For example, they scaled Kratos to Cronos even when he was weakned in that battle, and there was no way to tell if Kratos could even drain Asura's mantra fully, because he's managed to overcome people absorbing his mantra before(Deus). He also came in back in seconds in the manga, which DB used, and had way more stuff in the manga.

Just so you know, Death Battle Cast is like a spin-off series that the Death Battle team does every week or so in livestreams. They're real-time Debates between two people, each person gets a character they need to represent and their goal is to basically convince the two judges and also the audience that their character should be the victor. There is some research, but it does get into like some Playground "I win cause I said so" kinda arguments at some times. Atlas only ever held up Greece, Cronos was severely weakened and restrained. The Underworld is stated to have a definite edge. The Nordic realms are all only the size of Norway. The mythologies all take place on the same globe that can be easily traversed between by wooden boats, they're not the size of universes. They're the size of Greece and nine Norways stacked on top of each other at most. Through all GoW games Kratos shows consistent levels of strength at mountain level at most, which lines up with his battles against gods of countries, not universes. As for energy siphoning, the Blade of Olympus only siphons energy from the god wielding it willingly giving their godly power to it. Other than that the fight was 🔥

Fun Fact, Ashura would return later on, bro just got sent through another time-out in the pillars dimension. Canon ending is Kratos and Ashura becoming budies and having a joint family BBQ. xb
