This is extremely useful. You can look at this in a different way: the door is closing and you're rushing to get through them, while blocking the door from closing while going through.

You gotta keep in mind this is only a demonstration of a single moment, if you were actually getting attacked things go by much, much faster. Just because you stopped the initial punch doesn't mean there won't be another one coming. Your attacker could easily resist and attempt to back off or kick or stomp on your legs. Don't view this video as a catch all for hooks just an idea of what you COULD do

D Money Nah that a whole load of bullshit my guy. Trust me I've boxed and I love boxing and mma. You're not going to go into any fight with this "Defend all move" you saw online. If the guy your fighting is thinking 2, 3 or 4 steps ahead of you like most boxers with solid experience should and your still thinkin like "If he throws a hook it's over" you're going to be waiting or react to that hook and the counter is already there to fuck you up

The main thing that people need to remember when it comes do tutorials and such is. 1. You need to repeat these with someone and practice over and over until it is a smooth and controlled reaction. 2. You can NOT just learn 1 thing. You need to go in depth with this and learn all of these techniques to use the simultaneously if a bad situation ever were to arise. 3. This takes years of practice. Like going to a gym to get in shape. You must do the same for any martial art. You must make time daily to keep yourself sharp and learning the art. People should definitely put time into self defense training to protect themselves and others.

I like how it isn't entirely coreographed. He just shows you the block and push back, and the offense is up to you. From the defense you could throw knees and run, throw a knee and then start bashing their head in, take then down, throw them and run, or throw them and break something, etc. Whichever works best and you can think of it yourself.

I use this consistently. I hear alot of people say how is it if you dont see it coming thats why you have to be present minded during the fight, work on your reaction time and watch body movements and tells. Unexperienced fighters often pull back or lean in or show their move before they perform it and think you only counter once its over if you follow throw with proper combo.

if you have the cold blood to pull it off then you'll be alright, cause the principle indeed is simple, effective but most important accurate but average fighters might have real trouble getting used to the coming forward to the hit instead of backing up...but this is truly the way to do it, attitude...

Good technique against circular punches. The only problem with this is that if you're not an expert, you will end up using the same technique under stress to block these circular punches no matter if the attacker has something in their hands. So if the attacker does this strike with a knife etc in their hands, it's going to hit you straight in the neck or head. That's why the 360 block is perhaps something that should be thougt first (The one he said was hard).

Bel video, spiegato veramente bene complimenti.

Seems difficult to pull off if you don't know the hook is coming. Do you manage this counter often when sparring?
@undeadhunter5
@undeadhunter5 10 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. The nature of the block is the same as any other block, you're just stopping the hit and using the opening to move in. The rest is just follow up. I don't think you necessarily have to do the palm to the face or the knee, I think he's just showing them to not hesitate just because they blocked. Different things make sense to different people I guess.
@guird4
@guird4 10 жыл бұрын
the block is easy, yeah, but simultaneously moving inside the power arc and striking is much more difficult.
@undeadhunter5
@undeadhunter5 10 жыл бұрын
For you and me who are way less experienced. Sure. But to this guy, probably not. I imagine it get's a lot easier as you practice. The way this guy does it makes it look easy and I imagine he's probably practiced it a boat load.
@guird4
@guird4 10 жыл бұрын
undeadhunter5 It also depends how quick and subtle his opponent is though. A combination that can only be applied by a more skilled opponent on a less skilled one isn't as good a technique as one that works for anyone against anyone.
@undeadhunter5
@undeadhunter5 10 жыл бұрын
I doubt skill would have anything to do with it. If you've sparred once or twice you start to feel kind of stupid if you block and then just sit there and let him recover. Moving, whether it be evasive or offensive, becomes 2nd nature after a block eventually. I think that's what he's trying to teach. He's just trying to instill a reflex so you don't leave yourself open after a block.
