Today i'm checking out the new Iguanodon abilities from the Nightstalker update.
Iggy was a beast before and it's even more of a beast now.
I love it but, some of it's new abilities are just completely irrelevant which makes only one build really worth using.

Just for everyone to know. Forager skill seems bad due to the faster food and water drain, but as you could see in his fight against the Megalania he was half food which is due to not many bushes everywhere. Forager however enables you to eat nuts and flowers almost anywhere on the map. Point is that your Dino heals quicker the more water and food you are running on. 😉

its very interesting that almost all the animals in the game got traction added to their leg slot. it doesn't seem like it would be useful to something like an Allo or Iggy, since they need all the recovery they can get

I think they're redoing alot of the front attacks cause they've taken out and reintroduced the head attacks specifically for alot of dinos. I'm curious as to why though. Iggy is getting a back kick though so that's exciting for the iggy players.

They removed front attacks because it's unrealistic for Herbivores to attack by biting. Modern herbivorous animals use their forelegs or their head to kick and/or charge but they usually don't bite as a first choice. That's why.

well, those devs are kind of inconsistent when it comes to taking decisions based on realism. Almost nothing in this game makes sense. None of the dinos abilities feel realistic when you think about it. If realism was their main focus the game would be way different so for them to remove an ability and using realism to explain it kind of brings up the question.... Sooooooooooo, what about everything else that is unrealistic in the game ?

@@KrawllUnchained well no, it's their game and therefore their decision what they want different aspects of the game to base on. Just because they decided to go loosely with realistic reasons with this aspect of the game doesn't restrict them for being creative on different terms on others. It would be different if they promote the game as a realistic dinosaur simulator but they don't. So saying they can't mix imagination with realistic concepts is kinda Whataboutism in my opinion.

I'm glad you made an Iggy video again, 'cause my word or clips don't carry the same weight yours do (you are better than me, i think it's fair). But on my own, I've killed Allos, Ceratos, Megs, n' Dasps with the same build, fought an Allo/Cerato combo off an Ano, and several Pycno/Allo combos till they backed off. He is an absolute juggernaut, but he doesnt have the chase so he isn't a 'griefer-style' dino. Balanced, painful, and genuinely very good at defending itself and others. A group of them could probably protect anything from near...well, anything. Fantastic video as always, I'm stoked to see the next ones.

The speed hide would feel nicer with a speed subspecies. If you enjoy Iggy, maybe try a second one built for all speed? Spino is a good example of being a different kind of beast with the subs, defense is more for land tanking and speed makes you crazy in the water. Iggy would probably be just as different (but not bad) on both extremes.

Swimming iggy build is silly in my opinion because using sprint in the water is virtually worthless. 10% speed when not using sprint in the water is still very slow

Yeah i can't wait for replay mode as well but i'm concerned about a few things though. Like, for example, i usually record for 1 or 2 hours straight so i'm wondering if the replay mode will allow for such big files and if not, then how long of a file will it allow. I don't wanna do anything scripted so if i can only record little 5 minute clips at a time that's not gonna be helpful at all , i never know when the action is gonna start or when it's gonna end. So yeah, super excited for it but have my concerns about it's limitations.

Great video. I’ve been tempted to make an iggy and watching this video has made me lean even further into one. I’m still a little unsure because of it as a baby but I’ve grown an amarg so surely it’s easier than that was. Loving the amount of videos lately too!

Smart move not getting rid of your tail attack Iggy thankfully didn’t get such a huge nerf on tail attack outside of the 2 sec cooldown. Charge is still mostly useless outside of crushing smaller enemies. But webbed feet and tough scutes gave this Dino the great buffs it needed. My Iggy got love ❤️. Also the fight with Meg you handled very well good to see some water combat action 😮

TLDR: What it do? They need to get their design principles squared away. The slots with complex trade-offs simply don't make sense to me. With the skin for example, 10% speed for 40% slower turn rate - okay - I might consider that. Then you take 10% of my armour? Why would I ever? Give me +5% speed. Speed is always speed. 10% speed, -40% turn, -10% armour. That is not always speed, sometimes its getting stuck on the logs that are sometimes impenetrable barriers because I can't turn fast enough. I don't even know what it is. It isn't simple to evaluate. I know I'm more fragile, so I'm taking the armour. Armour is always armour. Give me +15% turn rate. Turn rate is always turn rate. What is +20% turn rate and -30% stamina regeneration? I have no idea where that lands me except that I can't run as far and I'll almost definitely be easier to catch and outrun. But. Maybe I'll land my stab more often? Simpler is better. The trade-off should always be between different options, for example, if I take the armour, I can't take the speed. If I take the speed, I can't take the armour. All those drawbacks do is make the ramifications unclear and make balancing the game across 40 dinos harder for the sake of complexity that really doesn't need to exist. You want complex options? Give me four good options that are mutually exclusive and do that for each of the several slots. Don't give me unnecessarily complex options with that we really can't compare in simple terms. How do you balance that? How do you evaluate +25% armour vs nothing vs +10% speed, -40% turn, -10% armour? It isn't sensible to make game balance so hard for yourself as a developer. Complexity at the cost of clarity? Why? We're just trying to have an interesting dino-brawlfest across a sprawling landscape in a survival scenario while picking flowers. Gimme several simpler choices for my dino, not two options where one is just a simple, straight-forward, clearly stated, buff and the other is a mind-bending comprehension test that makes it unclear 'what it do'. I don't want to have to look at an option and have to figure out how many % speed is worth 1% armour and 4% turn speed. Rant complete! Cheers for the vid :)

I think what they plan with having 2 slots for the hand attacks is that either they are adding a new type of attack and making both stabs happen at once, or add individual left and right stab attacks for each slot. Also, have you tried using the precise turn, like precise turn right and maybe the stab goes to the right?

They will give the Iggy a new kick ability so i think this is what will go into that empty slot. And precise movement doesn't affect which leg the stab comes from, it's always from the left.

Krawl you know if u just walk up to the home cave stone ( Just outside the home cave ) and hit the button u use to enter, it saves u time and possibly stamina. Just means u don’t have to actually walk into the Cave to enter

I think its better to go as far as you can into the home cave entrance so when you exit you have more of a chance to get back in if its being camped by aggro players.

@@The_Babble I don’t think it matters, bc once you exit, you have the homecave protection buff. I often will go in, come out, rest and regen (bc no one can hurt me), then go in again, and leave with full stam, so I have 50 seconds to get out of the area with full stam and health

Some things I don't get and pray they fix is the struth because you legit cant attack unless you're walking atm D: I hope the other front limb option for the iggy is the ability to use his right thumb so it fixes em.

Turning Speed Stats only affect turning speed when turning while walking/running, it does not affect Precise Turning. A lot of players think Turning Speed Stats affect both types of turning but it really only affects one type (turning while walking/running) and not the other (precise turning)

I wonder if they do make a change with two hand attacks, they make it so you can attack with both your left and your right hands to make up for the loss of the bite attack. it would explain why there's an extra hand slot

interesting, whenever I play herbivore and get the option for the forager diet I go for it pretty quickly. I much prefer just munching on random flowers, nuts or whatever you pretty much find everywhere over searching for those berry bushes. Might be different if I had a good idea of where all the bushes are, but I dont. And the additional fooddrain really just helps with getting the "find food" quest faster ^^

@@ducestat06savage99 Then it's a pretty bad getaway move because it drains your stam extremely quickly. I don't think that the small lead you get from using it is worth running out of stam in a matter of a few seconds. Anything can catch up to you as soon as you run out of stam. This charge ability literally drains your stam faster than anything i've seen in the game, you are completely dry in a few seconds, it's crazy.

I liked meg way more before, now it has no tail attack so when little birds come after you it's almost impossible to hit them. The nighttime buff is really lame, they already have fast stam recovery and it only makes it slightly faster. Gaining stam back when not swimming fast is cool but it honestly should've been doing that the entire time. Nothing would lose stamina while simply floating in water. Only things that should lose stam are things that can't float and have to constantly paddle to stay above water and breathe. Plus they lowered the defence even more so they're pretty squishy now.

The trade offs for loss of turning radius is horrible. Maybe if it was more equal in loss and gain but the speed boost is crappy compared. Same for the turning radius bonus but loss of stamina. There not good trade offs at all. If they adjust them more maybe they'll be useful but as is I don't think so.

I like to island hop with my iggi really nice to just follow the coast with its swim abilities but they nerfed my barss😢 and u know it's going to take forever for them to fill those empty ability boxes

Yeah sorry i know i tried the charge once while recording but i must have scrolled through and missed that bit while editing the video. I remember being very underwhelmed by the charge. You can't use it unless you're ALMOST full of stam and while you're using it your stam drains EXTREMELY quickly. The move speed while charging is not very fast either which makes it completely useless in any and all situations. You can't use it to run away since you'll be out of stam in a matter of seconds and you can't use it to damage opponents since you'll be extremely easy to dodge. It's the most non sensical ability i've ever seen.

@@KrawllUnchained the charge is meant to make high damage like the ability Trikes have. However, it's buggy ever since and does absolutely zero damage. I hoped they have fixed it with the combat update but regarding what you say it doesn't seem like it. Otherwise charge could be useful in long fights against several opponents in where some of them are already severely injured. One could charge them down one after another. But yeah, only works if it's fixed ofc. Awesome video though, love your humor! ❤️👌🏻

No i didn't hear anything about it, i have never been on the PTB . I'm very bad at keeping myself informed on upcoming changes to the game lol ! It kinda sucks that they're gonna do that though, i kinda liked having a bunch of quests banked up for when i die lol .

Pretty sure the reduced stamina recovery from Traction means that the time it takes you to recover stamina is reduced. So your stamina recovery is actually faster with it. It's just very badly worded in the description.

It does but almost no one use it because it's difficult to hit anything with it and it cost a lot of stam which makes a miss with it very bad for the rest of the fight. Also, i'm pretty sure they removed the Iggy charge in the ptb so it will be removed from the live branch soon as well.

I have several videos on Gondwa already, the only reason i'm not recording these on Gondwa is because i'm checking out changes to dinos that i had previously grown on Panjura and i can't afford to take the time to regrow them in Gondwa. When i do the Meg and the Spino it will be on Gondwa because those were grown there.

It's true that this game is way off on a lot of things. It doesn't seem to care about realism at all but, Iggy was a pretty strong dino in real life so i'm sure it could've handled itself in a fight against certain Allo specimens at the very least.

Did you know that iggy was 1-2,6 tons heavier than an allosaurus??? And because of that he could use he's thumb, tail, bite, foot and even do a bodyslam. He's ENTIRE body was a weapon. Just because allo was a carnivore doesn't mean he can do miracles. But yes, killing a sub adult speed allo as latenivenatrix, this game can go wild.
