The Vulcan V6 is one of Ford's toughest engines. Ive had 2 Tauruses with that engine. Never a mechanical issue whatsoever. Burned 0 oil. Over 350,000 combined miles.

My first car was a mazda b3000 with a 5 speed and the 3 liter 6 cylinder vulcan. They drink gas like a v8 with all the power of a 4 cylinder, but I was merciless to that truck and it never stranded me. the 3 liter vulcan engines are tough.

You are absolutely correct. It's usually never the little 3.0 that goes bad it's the automatic tranny's and yes the 3.0 identifies as a v8 for fuel mileage but power definitely identifies as a 4 banger.

I just got an idea.. If you put an engine on some sort of a stand without a gearbox. Then put a oversized flywheel on it ,couple hundred pounds or so , rev it up and hydrolock it . ...

I had one of those motors in a Taurus. That thing ran forver. The body of the car actually gave out first. It had almost 300k miles on it

Mine was an 02 taurus/sable and a POS. Power steering leak and then the pump completely died, It started leaking coolant from the block, i had it for about a year before scrapping it but i did a lot of maintenance and it only had 160k miles

A little tip to save the starter, don't hold the throttle wide open when cranking, it shuts the fuel injectors off. Great destruction though! It didn't wanna die!

I’ve done something similar with a 425 magnum Quad. Put on a snorkel and forgot too tighten the clamp on the carb boot. It blew off while I was during a burnout and then it lockup tighter than a nun when i jumped it into a pond

everyone says them 3.0s are garbage but so help my fuck me and the boys hot seized one like three times with no coolant at all and it still ran. you could not kill it. we limiter banged it for like a half hour the exhaust was glowing front to back and it would not die. it blew a hole in the plastic rad it got that hot and it still would start lmao
