I've only made a few cuts with my Accu-cut but did rip a full sheet of plywood in half! When I reached the end of the track I took the saw off flipped the track around put it back on the plywood. Put the saw back on the track where I left off and kept going! Works great trimming doors! Just lay the track Alon your marks. Very little set up time.

Great review. I have both of these and absolutely love them. The accuracy is spot on. I have the track clamps and really like them. If you have a warped sheet of plywood, they hold the track in place with no chance of moving . I do have a good table saw that I will use for smaller pieces but for a full sheet I find the Kreg Accu-cut and Accu-rip so much easier and so much safer.

Excellent review, John. Incredibly helpful to me as I have been trying to decide whether or not to get these two items and use my Dewalt circular saw OR get the Kreg system which has a saw built for their tracks. That route is much more expensive and heck, I already have the circular saw to put to use.

I bought the EZSmart Track Saw System before kreg came out with this for around 2x the price and thought to myself i could have saved some cash by going with kreg. But after seeing how the kreg system works, I am much happier with my purchase of the EZSmart track. The clamps and the saw base attachment are much better and you can add additional tracks if you want to cut a 4x8 sheet into two 2x8 sections.

I am big fan of Kreg tools but I have nothing but trouble with my rip cut on large cuts. You need to spend plenty of attention when you first start then finish the cut as the guide is too small IMO and causes movement with the blade. Also, when cutting straight it can move so need to pay attention particularly when you need to move your body on long cuts. I wrote Kreg Who responded that they were lengthening guide but does nor appear is happening.
@SuperGokuSon5 жыл бұрын
I thought so to but come to find out there are clamps they sell to eliminate that they go on the bottom of the track and then it clamps to the wood no more flex with he track... Go on amazon and look up KREG 2-Piece T-Track Clamps. This only works with the Kreg ACCU-Cut and the Kreg KMA3700 ACCU-Cut XL. But it eliminated all of my problems with variance and wobble in my cuts.

Would you order the Accu-cut with the 4 foot extension, or the accu-cut and rip cut combo? The extension kit is $90 so it's more than the whole set-up for some reason, but the rip cut is only $35. I feel like a 8 foot guide would be cumbersome when your not trying to do a full sheet.

Iv got the kreg guide and it is flimsy so have beefed it up in the recesses underneath with 6mm ply you could then mount that on another platter also in 6mm ply it would be great if the guide was all aluminium welded but is brilliant as an idea and works very well the locking mechanism is dodgy mine came apart but I clicked it back together and have got used to being careful with it iv also put 2 extra screws thru the plastic base plate into my saw as i leave it set up all the time hope that helps

Rip-cut is only as straight as the edge of the plywood or other wood that you are cutting. From the lumber mill, 4 X 8 sheets of plywood, MDF, etc are generally pretty darn straight on at least one edge, but.... ya gonna count on that? Whereas, the Accu-cut is straight (as long as you carefully line up the two tracks when you first assemble -- use a solid straight edge before tightening down those connector bars) and with the new Accu-cut XL, you CAN rip a full length 8 foot sheet of plywood and it will be a straight cut! Did anyone mention that Kreg now sells an extension for the original (50") Accu-Cut track so you don't have to run out and buy a whole 'nother sled (some folks used to buy two full Accu-cuts to make it longer) nor do you have to buy the new Accu-cut XL (which includes another sled) to get the full length for a good rip-cut? The way I see it, we'll never need the 'rip-cut' track again. Besides, the rip-cut track thing requires you keep the side-pressure against the existing edge to keep your cut straight and accurate. Accu-cut works best with NO side pressures, because you don't want the darn thing to slip! If it does slip (slippery already finished woods, some clean MDF) yes you can buy Kreg's expensive cute little clamps or -- just make your own with some 1/4" X 20 bolts that the heads will fit in the tracks on the underside and some simple wood or anything-else to clamp the track down at the edges of the wood you are cutting. Much cheaper than Kregs cute little clamps. But... Kreg SURE does make some great stuff! They are amazing with all that blue plastic material that is tuff enough, and yet still light enuff!
@DaCake25 жыл бұрын
Hi there... you seem knowledgable about them and I was trying to decide which one I should get. I noticed the XL version and if I go with that one would you say there is no need for the rip cut? Or does it come in handy to have both? Thanks.
@TruthSeekerAi3 жыл бұрын
dont forget the saw will cut off a lil bit of the blue plastic guide to make it really straight they do this cause when you join the 2 aluminum parts together the blue plastic part can be out of line

There is some weeble wobble when the saw is on the track. That and it will move. Get the clamps. The starting block is worthless. It shoves into the T-track and isn't screwed down so it can move. Be aware of these limitations. Another thing. The clamp that holds the thingy to the saw is on plastic. That can move and break. Keg should have made that out of metal.

@T707816 жыл бұрын
A friend of mine bought one and it had about 1/16" slop between the plastic molded part and the aluminum extrusion. He called Kreg and they said that was normal. I measured the slots in the plastic molded piece and they were different widths even though they were supposed to be the same. That indicates an injection mold issue so chances are most will have the same problem until Kreg corrects their mold. The way it holds the saw is cheesy too. This tool is not representative of typical Kreg quality. They should have never made it past the QA process. My friend ended up spending a fortune on a Festool track saw but he loves it. If you buy one of these check it for slop before you go to tyhe trouble of installing your saw. Hopefully Kreg corrects their mold problem soon.
@tugnut16 жыл бұрын
There is a little slop in the Accu-Cut track and guide plate. That is for sure. I think they could fix this issue with an adjustment on the bottom of the plate. Maybe some adjustable rollers in the slots. I agree its not as accurate as a track saw, but its a better option from the Bora unit. I do really like the Rip Cut though. That seemed to be really useful.

I own the rip and accu-cut. I have not used them yet, but after doing the math for what i got. I purchased a cordless circular saw as well. I wish i went for the corded makati sp6000 track saw. (limited by whaat is available in my country) So i spent 100 on the accu-cut, plust 120 for the cordless circular saw (no battery, i have those already).. I can get 50 inch of track plus the SP6000 track saw for just about $400.. Sure thats nearly 100% more, but the ease of use and fiddling required to set these up up I wish i took a different path. Having said that maybe i'll love he accu-cut (own rip-cut also).. but i don't think the will every give me the quality a true track saw will. Just an observation. Not knocking anything or anybody.

Any flat sheet of styrofoam will work, but the type shown here is less messy than beaded styrofoam. As far as storage, there is no reason one cannot cut a 4’x8’ sheet into two 4’x4s or four 2’x4s. Tape them together so they can be folded and unfolded, using your choice of heavy cloth tape (I prefer gaffer tape). Flimsier styrofoam sheets can be strengthened by taping stiff cardboard on the back.
