Just tried one out at the local Woodcraft its nice and smooth quality built; I currently use a Triton router in the table that works very well and saves a lot of money compared to a separate lift and motor the problem is it that can't be locked in place and does settle as I experienced using the larger lock miter bit. The thought of dropping some $600+ for a separate lift and motor is bothersome, woodworking/woodturning is a very expensive hobby then again so is fishing if you figure in all the fancy poles, gear, lures and a boat.

This is a Jessem lift. I guess Kreg paid them to make some with there colors and logo on it. They make great lifts so this will be a good fit.

It is comparable to the JessEm Mast-R-Lift II 02120 Router Lift. The locking mechanism is slightly different, along with the size of a few of the parts. Performance wise, it has all the same features as the Mast-R-Lift II, which retails for $349.99.

Basically it looks like they ripped it off. Changed something to make it slightly different to hopefully avoid a legal battle. That or they have a deal with them.

I want one but for some reason the makers do not make 240v 50 Hz fixed base routers for the Australian market, we seem to be a plunge base country only.. One company brought in a router motor that could be used in router lifts, but it was over $1200.

First reaction = Nice product, seems well made and wouldn't mind buying one at a 100 to 150 price point. After clicking the link and seeing it at $299 = Yeah, no thanks. There are better products out there at that price point, and or whole router tables with routers that allow depth adjustment from the top.

Yeah... and? It doesn't change what I said. There are other products out there that do the same thing for cheaper. Or other ways to skin a cat so to speak for cheaper. If I were to personally buy something like that it wouldn't be for more than 150. That's me personally. If you can find people willing to pay 300 for it, then go for it. Also I am sure I can find someone selling them for 2 to 3 times that amount. It doesn't mean I will look at it and go hey... this kreg thing is a good deal. I don't base what I am willing to pay for something on what other products go for. I look at the utility of the product, and whether I could use it and or like it. If it does something I need/want but it's out of what I am willing to pay for it I look elsewhere, or find a different way to accomplish the same/similar result.

Yes, as with anything in life, there are cheaper options. You can drive a Ford, or a Benz, both take you to the same place. Getting there will feel a little more comfy with the Benz though.

Just because you can't afford it doesn't make it expensive. I was looking at the INCRA and this is as nice but $70 cheaper. I'm new to woodworking but I haven't anything this nice that was any cheaper than $300.

Kreg Tool Thank you, but the problem is with Porter Cable is the 690 on your list is not on Porter Cables website. They have a 690LR, don’t know if it’s the same as the 690 that you list. Also Porter Cable does not list the 680 at all. The Porter Cable 7518 is listed on your site and theirs, but there is also a Porter Cable 7518 Speedmatic, don’t know if that is the same router, but a update version. Kreg needs to have a complete updated list of compatible routes on the site, because the model numbers might be the same, but some of the features may have changed that may not make them compatible. Yes it will fit craftsman 27683 - Kreg doesn't update their specs page - the 17543 that is listed on the specs page is the same router but 11 Amps - 27683 is newer version with 12 Amps

Really name one I would like to buy it. I have been looking for a while. The lower price Jessem lift looks good, but you can not lock the height and it can drift lower with continued use.
