Hey man, I watched about 5 videos before yours on Router's. You by far, did a better job. You told us what we needed to know, gave good comparison between the different types of routers and highlighted great points that we should be aware of. I walked away from your video knowing more than the other videos. Thanks!

As a new woodworker (been at it about 2 months), I was able to build my own router table pretty easily. It's not perfect or beautiful, but it works well and the only hardware I bought for it was a cheap Bosch table insert plate, 3-pack of throat inserts and a dust port fitting. I think making your own router table instead of going with one of these store-bought tables is a great learning experience. Don't buy what you can make yourself.

Yeah, and after buying all of the parts and possibly ending with less than perfect results, you could've just gone and bought it. T-track alone, for what it is, is ridiculously expensive.

I have the Kreg router table and a Jessem router lift. It works great. The only comment is that it isn't necessary, for the most part, for the fence to always lock down parallel to the table front or t-track. As long as you have the depth of cut and height of cut set it will always work.
@bassrun101
@bassrun101 4 жыл бұрын
Garry not Linda. You are correct about the fence. Izzy Swan has videos on router tables and drill press tables where he takes a different approach. His fences on both versions don't use T track at all on shop made tables. He anchors one end of the fence with a bolt approximately in line with the center of the chuck or collet and then with a circle guide routes an arc on the opposite end. That is followed by a sweep with a T slot bit. A 1/4" bolt and a knob and the fence is ready to go. I wish that I had made mine that way rather than screwing around with and paying for T track and hardware.

@WoodcraftSupply 4 жыл бұрын
You are correct that it does not always have to be parallel. I was going to cover that but had to cut it for time. It also makes it easier to adjust though.

I am a beginner at woodworking. I'm getting to the point where I think I need a router table. Do you have any advice on what router table I should buy?
@WoodcraftSupply
@WoodcraftSupply Жыл бұрын
It really depends on a lot of factors like what work you do, and your budget. My first router table was the table top Kreg. JessEm has a lot of components that you can pick and choose the features you want.

I have a Dewalt router. Do most tables accept all brands?
@WoodcraftSupply
@WoodcraftSupply 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they typically get attached to an insert and then dropped into the table. Some inserts have predrilled holes for popular routers or you can drill your own using the routers baseplate as a template.

Cool video but if you could focus on the things you're talking about instead of watching you talk it would be far more helpful. Some of those pics weren't even on screen for 2 seconds. I found myself stopping, rewinding, then trying to stop again, on a one second long pic, just to see what you were talking about. It honestly got annoying. The subject matter was great, just want to see more of the subject. We can hear you talk fine without seeing you talk. Hope you understand, no offense meant.
