For the Irwin, press the release and move it then squeeze to clamp. Like move it with the release pressed to the jig, then release and then use the clamp trigger to pressure. That was a bad explanation but hold the release lever and you can freely move it.

Why do you repeatedly say "drill bit" when you mean "screw bit"? You failed to mention that both pieces of wood need to be held down firmly or when screwed together, they will not be flush.
