Oh Nathan ! - why do you do it to me every time ?!!! - your playing turns me to jelly inside - you put every fibre of your being into it and the result is staggering ! . So many string players are technically brilliant but only a handful can produce that inner soul and character that leaves the listener spellbound ( and worn out !!) . Thank you SO much.

Incredible as always, Nathan! You play so cleanly and have such emotion and I love love love your vibrato and kind of old-fashioned sound that reminds me of Itzhak Perlman. Since this is an encore, do we get to see a video of the concerto soon?
@NathanMeltzer5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, Hannah! Nothing is better to my ear than Perlman's vibrato :) I'm allowed to post a 3 min excerpt of the concerto, and I'll try to put that up soon. Have a wonderful summer!!

This is extremely beautiful Nathan, it's such a pleasure to listen you playing How can you play so emotional? Any advices?
@NathanMeltzer5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so very much! That's a hard question. I don't think I actually try to play with emotion. I just try to really understand what the music is saying before I play it. Does that make any sense?
@Rana-cz2dl5 жыл бұрын
@@NathanMeltzer not really...but i'll try it thanks for advice
@retrops42615 жыл бұрын
@@Rana-cz2dl if I may, I agree with (wise beyond his years Nathan), learning the technical aspects of a piece and then being able to understand and execute crucially the dynamics and get an overall sense of phrasing! This is the real key to getting "the emotion" of music once this begins to congeal, experimenting with where and how to vary the vibrato will really complete the "emotional" picture. Beyond all this, making an actual visual scene in your mind to what the music is depicting (to you) can be the trick to make it all come together though! Playing musically is ultimately just about being inspired by what you see on the page. Of course a certain level of technical achievement must exist to enable any musical sense imparted to the music to be effective;) That's where the countless hours of slow methodical work comes in. Nathan has demonstrated the results of this incredible laborious process wonderfully here!!!
@NathanMeltzer5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for that much better explanation!! :)

Wow! You are amazing, Nathan! 🎻😀 Do you have any advices for nerves when performing?
@NathanMeltzer4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Mariana! I'm always nervous, too... but have learned to see that as a good thing that I can channel into the music. It helps to just recognize it as a positive rather than negative... think of it as excitement instead of nerves ;) I also like going for a walk or run before the performance, if possible. I wish I had a better answer.... but hope that helps in some small way. Happy New Year... and all the best!!
