The Budapest Memorandum is why we are assisting Ukraine. In. 1994, Ukraine agreed to transfer its nuclear weapons to Russia in exchange for security assurances from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Russia: Russia has failed to keep its obligation and instead has done the opposite and the west is just fulfilling its obligation to help Ukraine and assist Ukraine as agreed if it was set up on by an aggressor which in this case is the country that agreed to help Ukraine instead of destroying Ukraine. This agreement conforms to international law thus the west is obligated to assist Ukraine and is doing just that. If Russia wants to argue history that its obligations when it was the USSR are no longer valid so in this case neither is any of the agreements made with nato during the ussr are no longer valid.

The voice of the lady interviewer is excellent for work with small children. But it is truly weird to hear such a gently light voice speak about war.

There is a little detail this man doesn't talk about: Russia is being bombarded, its territory is being attacked. Did that happen during the 40 or some years of his experience?. Moreover, important people, such as David Patreus (ex-CIA director and responsible for the killing of hundreds of thousands of Iraki people) has said that Europe wont be safe unless the territory of Russia is divided (the land, into several different countries). So this man seems to be thinking that 40 or more years of experience mean that, EVEN IN COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES, things will be the same as before.
