You know, Yamcha really doesn't get enough love from the fandom, even though he surpassed Goku in strength after just a year of training on the lookout. So many people mock him for losing to a self-destructing Saibaman, but you know who else lost to the equivalent of a Saibaman? Goku AND Piccollo, who had a 2 on 1 advantage. At least Yamcha pushed the Saibaman so far that it's only option was self destruction.

It was a bigger deal because Goku wasn’t training and piccolo didn’t think someone like Raditz would show up. Meanwhile everyone else had a year and a half to surpass that level and Yamcha still lost before the actual fight started

The blast didn't even incinerate Yamcha, implying that, he was likely twice as strong as a Saibaman. And thus, twice as strong as Raditz. For being a human, that is an amazing feat. He wasn't even fighting at full power against that Saibaman. (Honestly, he shouldn't have had a problem breaking that things grip.) But, training that intense, if Yamcha was as weak as people say, would have broken him. Instead, he pushed through it and became one of the strongest fighters on the planet. Goku trained on a planet that had ten times earth's gravity, and proportionally gained the same amount of power that Yamcha did, just training on earth. Really, if Goku did not have the benefit of the gravity boost, he probably couldn't have even beaten Nappa. Not downplaying Goku or anything, just thinking that Yamcha deserves a little more love.

By a technical standpoint, the saibamen still won since it did the finishing blow. Yamcha might’ve been stronger but the gap wasn’t wide enough for him not to lose. Plus this is dragon ball, underdogs typically win anyway. I’m not saying Yamcha is weak, but you’re definitely over stretching his strength. He’s not as strong as you say he is

But, in the Dragon Ball universe, a large power difference is needed to disintegrate an enemy. For example, Vegeta may not have used his full power, but he was still three times as powerful as Nappa when he turned him to dust. And Nappa was extremely weakened from the fight. Whereas Goku, using a Kaioken, could only push Vegeta with his Kamehameha. So many times in the Dragon Ball universe, it is shown that a huge difference in power was needed to completely destroy an enemy. But the Saibaman, which its self destruction probably produces double the power it normally can, did kill him, but his body was barely damaged on the surface. Like, say, a head on collision between two cars of equal size and weight will cause enough damage to total the vehicles. But that same car, crashing head on into a fully loaded semi will be completely crushed. If Yamcha was weaker than a Saibaman's general power, then he should have been like a car vs a semi when it detonated. Yamcha, in this analogy, is more like a car crashing into another car roughly half the size. The larger car is still totaled from the impact, but the smaller car is completely destroyed. I know power levels are not accurate, but I would say that Yamcha's power level was somewhere between 1500, and 2000 during the fight.

Krillin is the smallest but the fastest meaning he can dodge and hit more. Tein's strongest technique the tri beam, tires him out and in worst-case could kill him. Krillin's strongest technique doesn't tire him out and it's been shown in the battle against Frieza he could use Destructo disc more than once. Tien although trains more than Krillin, Krillin has fought stronger enemies alongside Goku and the others more often then Tien.

Yes, ive watched all of DB and up to the end of the cell saga in DBZ. I know all of his shortcomings, and if you bring the saibaman into play, Yamcha had beaten it easily, he just got caught off guard when it woke up again. He wouldve won easily if he hadnt gotten cocky and neglected to finish it off.

SAIYAN SAGA: TIEN Though they are both fairly close in power the Daizenshuu does say Tien had a slightly higher power-level when they fought Nappa than Krillin. However this can be up for speculation because all the Z-fighters were supressing their true power-levels, so their full power is unknown. What is known are their feats during battle against Nappa. Tien is the only fighter to engage Nappa, for a substantial period of time, alone, and with one hand. Though he is getting beaten, he is still fighting to the point Nappa says he's a "tough bastard". Krillin however mostly fights Nappa in a duo with Piccolo, therefore appearing stronger than what he actually is. Tien is brutalized far more than Krillin and takes more damage, yet stays in the fight until he kills himself. Krillin takes some damage but is later knocked out by the shockwave of Nappa's blast, which is not as impressive as Tien durability. Both Tien & Krillin nearly kill Nappa in their own ways. Krillin's attempt is impressive but it mostly plays on Nappa's stupidity and lack of knowledge of the Destructo-Disc, once Nappa realised how it worked, it posed no threat to him and was easily avoidable. Tien however nearly kills Nappa with raw power, Nappa is able to avoid it but does suggest afterward that it would've killed him had he not seen it coming, and even Vegeta is in shock of how much power Tien had. So even though Krillin's attempt was good, it was more him trying to outwit Nappa, while Tien was just going to annihilate him with sheer power, which I find more impressive. NAMEK/FRIEZA SAGA: KRILLIN: Once Krillin & Gohan get their potential unlocked on Namek, its suggested their power-level is about the same as Vegeta's was in the Saiyan Saga when he was on Earth (give or take) So if that is in anyway accurate that puts Krillin far above Tien at that time. Unless you count filler which in that case Tien is far stronger than Krilliin because he fights two members of the Ginyu-Force simultaneously and defeats them both on King Kai's planet, but in actual canon Krillin is stronger. ANDROID/CELL SAGA: TIEN After the three year preparation for the Androids it's unknown who's stronger, but I believe the story indicates Tien is stronger. When Yamcha is punched through the chest by Android 20 the first three people on the scene are Goku, Piccolo, and Tien. They are also the three that fly off to fight the Androids in the desert, which could mean nothing, but to me suggests those are the three strongest amongst that group (bar Vegeta & Trunks of course) But undoubtable the greatest feat Tien has is his performance against Semi-Perfect Cell. Krillin's punches didn't even make Semi-Perfect Cell flinch, he just stood there and smiled. So the fact Tien could forcible hold Cell down and smash him into the ground over and over like that is not only the best thing Tien has ever done, its one of the impressive moments in DBZ. So in that moment Tien is far above Krillin. BUU SAGA: TIEN Seven years after Cell, Krillin has retired, its unknown if he's stronger or weaker than he was in the Cell saga, most likely Krillin has regressed rather than increased in strength. Tien however has gone into isolation, during that time, to do nothing but train. So its safe to assume Tien has increased in power, while krillin has probably decreased. Krillin is able to charge Super-Buu and stall for about 5 seconds, which is ultimately futile, but it is something. Tien on the other hand is able to deflect Buu-Tanks' blast saving Gohan, which is actually very impressive considering Buu-Tanks is stronger than both Ultimate Gohan & SSj3 Goku. So I believe Tien is stronger during this period. All in all I believe Tien is stronger than Krillin, despite popular opinion. In pure martial arts he was able to defeat Goku in a competition, and when it comes to power levels and feats 90% of the time his are better than krillins. Anything past DBZ I don't care about because DBS is trash.

This is actually something that has always been on a mind. Yes Tien is strong and he is constantly training but so has krillin and not just a friendly fight with a friend but battles to the death with people 10x if not 100x stronger than him. It wasn't necessary for Toriyama or any characters in the series to admit this, just from everything Krillin has gone thru it should be a fact. But it would be nice to get actual stats and truly pit them against each other

I know most people would say Tien would win, but I'm betting Krillin will take this. He's been in the battlefield long after Tien retired. I know Tien trained (him able to stall Semi-perfect Cell is a proof), but in general battle aura size, Krillin's probably bigger. Tien does have lots of techniques though. Krillin is able to keep up with Android 18 (she was going easy on him by a lot, but still).

"Been in the battlefield long after Tien retired." Tien never retired. The one time Tien WASN'T there to help them fight, was during the Namek saga. And guess why? He was dead. Once he came back to life, he still stayed to fight and try doing something against the Androids. Krillin didn't fight or try anything. He stood there and watched everyone get their stomachs pressed in. What did he do to Cell? Nothing. What did Tien do to Cell? Held him down with a Tri Beam. There's no "he was on the battlefield long after he retired!". Even in the Buu saga Tien stepped in and tried to help Gohan fight Super Buu. What did Krillin do? Get stomped and turned into chocolate in one hit. In Super, what did Krillin do? Ran away with his child and let 18, Tien and Piccolo fight Beerus. Then after practically still shitting his pants over their past enemies, he goes into the tournament and is the first to get eliminated. Also, what has Krillin been doing? Nothing. He's a beat cop, and now can actually be shot and harmed by bullets again. What about Tien? Never stopped training, lives in a mountain and owns/operates his own Dojo. I refuse to believe Krillin is anywhere near Tien's level at this point.
