I still think the best line of the whole exchange is Hades saying, "My world will have no need for heroes.". It really shows you his mentality, that he believes his world is so perfect they _didn't_ have heroes since there was no major conflict or disaster to be a hero against. His belief is that you oppose this future for his people and that justifies essentially everything he has ever done.

Nearly everyone saw it as the WoL saying it with a defeated tone as if we could do nothing. I immediately saw it as a joking tone, especially since I've been making the joking selections the entire expansion. It's sad to see that it seems like only a handful of people chose that option, but alas, most people are stupid.

That "I challenge you, Emet-Selch." dialogue option got me way hyped for the fight that was about to follow. The way I interpreted that line was like... After all this talk from Emet about him testing you, trying to see if you are worthy and such... Now you are turning the tables on him. Now *you* challenge *him* to prove that he's worth his salt. I hated Emet. And I loved Emet. He's an amazing villian in that he's written in such a way that you can completely see his PoV yet still feel justified fighting him. Going somewhat off-topic here, but I'm one of the, by the looks of it many, WoW refugees that jumped ship with the mess that is BfA. I have not touched the Final Fantasy series beyond FFXIV, getting into the game for the MMO aspect. Shadowbringers has made me want to check out the rest of the series. Like, if this is the level of story they can pull off? Hell yeah. Well played, Square.

I was really impressed with the dialogue options in the quest Shadowbringers in that they didn't really change anything, but gave very different slants to the protagonist's mindset. I personally ended up going with the "It ends this day. One way or another, it ends." because I actually kind of liked Emet, and found it regrettable that things had come to that point and had thus been hoping against hope that we could become friends again. Additionally, the differences between even the same line of "Fate can be cruel, but a smile better suits a hero" based on the previous option are pretty major. "You shouldn't hang your head" leads into an interpretation of someone passing on the words that they had been told before to a new hero as a source of inspiration, while "I'm not asking to be saved" leads into the idea of a more fatalistic person who's putting on a mask of confidence for the sake of those around them to hide the fact that he or she is falling apart.

Personally, I would recommend checking out FFVI or FFIX when it comes to a satisfying story. Love those games.

The games in the final Fantasy series that I would absolutely recommend that you try would be FF4 through FF9 (I can't give an honest opinion of 2 or 3 as I've never had an opportunity to play them myself, though the earlier games are *very* old at this point and may not have aged too well), & FF Tactics (either the original or the War of the Lions remake) in particular. There may be some sub-par entries (12 is generally considered to be one of, if not *the* "weakest" entries in the series), but overall it's a great series (FF is a big part of why I'm such a huge JRPG fan even today), and most of the games are stand-alone adventures. The only true sequels in the series I can think of off the top of my head would be Final Fantasy 10-2, Final Fantasy 13-2 (and Lightning Returns is a sequel to 13-2), and Crisis Core is a prequel to FF7. Each of the games can also play fairly differently than others. FF8 for instance had a distinctly different system when it came to managing the stats, summons, and abilities each character had access to compared to FF7, FF9, or FF10.

actually, i have a theory, emet selch speak about the ascians being broken into 14 or 13 i don't remember parts, he also spoke sometimes of us, the WoL as ascians, like we have to rejoin them, i mean... maybe just MAYBE, ardbert was one of our part from the first, we are one of the parts in the source, "you are only a broken husk", everything make sense, i mean, we ARE an ascian ... just TEMPTERED BY HYDAELYN, the other ones .. maybe temptered by Zodiark, we talk as ardbert, we became 1, maybe there are more more expansions to come for every 1 planet, except the ones that failed into the calamities that bring calamities to our world, 7 less, 7 umbral calamitys, 7 planets yet to check, 5 more, counting allready the source and the first, 5 more warriors of light or maybe "part of us" sparced through the universe....

@@doomdeathxx I think that was the implication of the whole final part of the MSQ yeah. I feel like the actual end goal is going to be our reunion with the final pieces of our soul for a final showdown with Zodiark or Elidibus or whoever is left in the end. I get the feeling when our character was born, they were born with 8 pieces of our soul already reunited, from when the 7 other shards were absorbed into the Source after the past 7 calamities, and reuniting with Ardbert made us 9/14ths whole. If our soul is rising up as a WoL in each reflection, then we've already got access to a 10th piece of our soul, the kid from the Warring Triad quests who was the WoL from the fallen 13th shard.

There's many ways to see the song, I think. The most direct idea of WoL vs. Emet-Selch, the WoL and Ardbert coming together as yin and yang, Emet-Selch and G'raha Tia both trying to save worlds that were destroyed, etc.

In our world on the source we are the Warrior of light and , Ardbert is the Warrior of Darkness. It is balance, where there is one there must be the other.

Scariest thing is that even with years of training and fighting and learning about the Asians the scions really were no match against Emet-Selch If it took auricite shattered into 7 pieces, the aether of 5 wardens and your own soul fusing back with another piece of it this makes me wonder how they’ll defeat elidibus if he one day chooses to fight at his full strength

I'm assuming Elidibus isn't on the same level as Emet-Selch since Emet seems to have only really had one body while Elidibus has had one before, then became Zenos, and then became someone else. Additionally, if Elidibus could just do this, why would he need to steal Zenos' body to fight the WoL?

@@mysteriouslunar9779 To me, Elidibus is much more of a tactician and schemer than he is a fighter and usually would only take to the battlefield in person if he is forced to do so. Emet on the other hand is both an effective tactician and effective in combat, Emet is overall more versatile. But I get the feeling that Emet's death will have a huge impact on the Ascians considering how powerful he actually was, and yet he *still lost* to us, and to make matters worse his defeat resulted in his actual *permanent* death, meaning the Ascians no longer have Emet's cunning mind or plans at their disposal anymore, and this could potentially result in some sort of "leadership vacuum" now that the only Red-Masked Ascian we know of who is still alive is Elidibus himself, so the Ascians may end up being "incapacitated" for a time by in-fighting or power-struggles as lower-ranked Ascians try to take the place of fallen Ascains like Emet, Nabriales, & Lahabrea.

Man, finished this yesterday and I got to say I was anxious throughout this whole entire scenario. One, this was singularly the most emotional expansion i've EVER played 2) this is the first main scenario I've finished within the confines of the update. Shinryu I waited until up to the shadowbringers expac main scenario. Mostly because it made it easier....this is because I had a bad run in with nidhogg …kicked because I didn't know the mechanics and we wiped ONCE. But Hades omg we wiped once we wiped twice hell we wiped thrice!!! But no one gave up, all took it as a learning experience and by god it was like we were there unwilling to give up on a dying star. And we finally laid him low !! Best experience ever!

At the end, I want to say something that has already noticed some and you should think about it. This is about three points: 1. Emet "Then again, with a soul looking for that ... Mayhap there is another way. One which does not require bloodshed" Note: We are a soul merged with the soul parts of the destroyed shards. That's basically where our power comes from. 2. The nice talk we with Hythlodaeus, here the last part where he also talks about Ardbert. 3. What Emet sees after we have merged with Ardbert. If you take the three parts it will be quite easy if you had merged with Ardbert earlier, there would be another way for Emet. What would he do then? He would ask us to go to the other worlds, so that we can unite there with the local soulshards and we will become one again: an Ascian for short. If that were possible, it would be to restore his people without bloodshed. And if it does not work, it basically does not change the original plan. For him it would only be a delay, but what are already a few days in the years he already lives. So an experiment that offers no disadvantage for him.

This is how I see ff14 final ending. WoL aiming his weapon towards Hydalyn and Zodiark and then we see the spirit of Emet and all the dead character behind him giving him some moral support. Yshtola put up a ultra uber barrier around them. Papalymo ready with his final attack. Thancred taking care of chump mobs around. All the dragons surrounding them as well with their fire breath. Titania helping with her pixie buddies and finally minfilia puts her arm on WoL shoulder. BOOOM. kamehameha !

@@cynreiusacari3163 Depending on if your character is male or female his friend in the tempest says that Emet surely saw 'him' or 'her' in you. And it shows Emet seeing the ascian during the flash of the light....it being Ardberts voice...i just see that as his thoughts are being spoken through us. I only found it a bit weird having a female with this deeply male voice nothing more
