Not to mention, the Richter scale is logarithmic, which means a 7.0 earthquake is 10 times stronger than a 6.0 one, a 100 times stronger than a 5.0 one, etc. So yeah, it absolutely WAS a major earthquake.

The first version is where the hardcore fans play. Original minesweeper didn't start you with an opening, so neither does it. Optimal expert winrate from 55% to only 41% with that change

By the way, in a lot of minesweepers ots enough to guess where all the bombs are, wothout opening every open square. That means that the last guess might not have really been a 50/50, since u could just guess one, and if the game is not over yet, guess the other.

In my own annual game I ended up with one bomb left and 8 panels in a row (in a corner) segregated by a contiguous box of bombs. so 7/8 to not die. was a funky looking ending, but good odds. I didn't hit the bomb so GG! (My gut originally told me to just take the corner, but I stopped myself and yolo'd somewhere in the middle, which was lucky because the last bomb actually was in the corner)

If I remember correctly, after flagging all the mines around a number you can click on the number with both left and right mouse button to reveal all surrounding tiles. ( if you misflagged, it explodes)
