We need to make Boomsday great again! And what better way to do it than with Legendary Spells? (1.) Whizbang's Wonderful Show: 5 Mana Legendary NEUTRAL Spell ( Yes, it's a neutral spell. Shit happens. ): Draw a minion, spell, Weapon and a Hero card from your deck. (2.) Kripp's Outdated Project: 4 Mana Hunter Spell: Summon 3 0/3 Alarm-o-bots for each player. *** (1.) The flavor text is: "Now, my dear audience, behold! When I am done a fearsome doomguard will appear! And a Skull of Manari, and Gul'dan and Twisting Nether." It's a cheaper Sprint that tutors. But it's less "disgustingly overpowered" than Melon. (2.) Just for you Kripp. Maybe this time, maybe this time.

It's not the addition of expansions that makes the meta better, it's the removal of some of them, that's why the standard rotation is so important to make sure Hearthstone doesn't get stale

Most people don't play wild, if standard didn't exist hearthstone would constantly keep out newer players since every new expansion would add on to how much time or money a newcomer would have to spend so they could catch up, since standard gets rid of old expansions, it makes it more appealing to new players since they won't have to worry about paying for naxx, blackrock,gvg,grand tournament, whispers, you get the idea.

Fake Nate Wild cost more money?! Wild is so much cheaper than standard, because your cards stays forever, you can always use them. In standard you have to buy new cards every rotation/expansion to be able to keep up with the meta, thats why we have all these powercreep, so you buy the cards.

The reason subject 9 is good is exactly why Patches is/was good: deck thinning. Often with Subject 9, you are playing with a freaking 25 card deck, which is nuts. Also, it is card draw for Hunter, the class that most desperately needs it (given it is an aggro deck that runs out of steam). Soo...yeah. It is not the same power of Patches as it takes until the midgame to be played, but it is that kind of concept: deck thinning and good card draw for cards you do not really want to draw. That is why it is good. The main issue with Subject 9 in wild though is fucking AIDS Druid I mean star aligner druid puts you on such a stupidly low clock that you need to win before turn like 9 or you just lose. A value card like Subject 9 does nothing in that matchup. If (and hopefully when) they nerf that deck, subject 9 will probably see more play in wild. Putricide is just bad because the times he does not actively fuck you over (like by giving you a misdirection that screws you), he just does not enough to warrant his cost.
@Kamamura26 жыл бұрын
However, both Mysterious Challenger and Patches (and Mad Scientist) drew the cards AND played them - because besides deck thinning, they affected the board, which was often more important. Subject 9 is a card that is extremely weak tempowise that fills your hand with what are mostly bad cards. That's why it sees no competitive play. If deck thinning was such a wonder, Glacial Mysteries would have been played. However, nobody ever played it - it was a terrible and expensive card.
@tygonmaster6 жыл бұрын
Daniel Ryslink While, yes, MC played the cards, the thinning was what mattered. Most Pally secrets are more annoying than actually useful and the ones it pulled typically were Noble Sac, Rally, Redemption, Avenge, and basically the rest being player choice. None of those really swung games. They served as a minor annoyance to protect the sticky-as-fuck minions like Shielded Minibot and Sludge Belcher. Also, unlike Hunter, Pally does not stuggle with draw and basically never has. Hunter draw has always been valued (hence why wild decks still sometimes run Quick Shot). Draw for Hunter is just always good.

I really like the idea of combo decks having a place in the meta but I agree that they are way to fast. I appreciate decks like Mecha'thun because you have to actually use all of your cards not just the really good ones. If the meta slowed down to where that was more the norm, or at least in that direction, it would allow for more value based decks to have enough time to us cards like Subject 9 or even Putricide because it would mean also lowering the power level of aggressive decks.
@bakacs1n6 жыл бұрын
I played against a deck like that last week, didn't knew where to put it then ... I see now where is coming from. Although against my spell hunter kind of did nothing. Sorry, but for hunter card draw is not enough, he needs tempo as well.

It isn't really that interesting of a dynamic that a deck that's been working for many expansions is still working well to this day. It's secret Hunter. It's aggro. Secrets are printed basically every other expansion, so it shouldn't be a surprise. Also, Subject 9 is "bad"? A card that has a reasonable body and an effect that draws on average 3 cards is bad???? Kripp are you ok????
@mauer16 жыл бұрын
well its a 5 mana card, its a legendary and it just draws them. So without having free traps you have to play them for mana and being a legendary the chances to draw it are significantly low, so getting a full deck of traps to get the whole effect is contraproductive, because it will mess up your other draws. Then its a 5 mana card, what do you wanna do on turn 5? I usually wanna be ready to kill my opponent on turn 5 with a secret/aggro hunter. And then, its just Secrets. They arent so powerful.
@thatsprettymint19426 жыл бұрын
@@jomsies the chat in the video even said that decks subject 9 is played in have around a 55 percent win rate. Which I checked and confirmed. Seems good man. Though I will say that the body isn't as good as I had originally thought, it's still reasonable.
@thatsprettymint19426 жыл бұрын
@@mauer1 but with the other secret synergistic cards, secrets are better than average. You have eaglehorn bow and spell stone which are the best examples for the synergy. Also, if subject 9 was just another mysterious challenger, I feel like that would be worse than simply playing the secrets as they won't proc spell stone if they go into play immediately, and they also would activate in an unknown pattern, leading to some unfavorable secret activations. Also, with the 3 drop in wild existing as well as the mad scientist, secrets for Hunter can a already get into play for cheap, while also not playing too many at once like mysterious challenger does. Still seems good. You also don't have to fill your deck with secrets to make subject 9 good, 3 or 4 secrets with varying copies is more than enough without pushing it.
@mauer16 жыл бұрын
I still cant see why this card is more powerful than just playing aggro and winning by turn 5. Spellstone is good enough even with just 1 proc or even 0. Its like, if you play it, you need it more because you didnt draw lower mana drops. So your deck is just slower, against Combo Druid this is more deadly or it should at least.
@R0DisG0D6 жыл бұрын
Mauer01 Because even with the most agressive decks you only win by turn 5 if everything goes right. According to your logic, the spellstone wouldn't be good either because it costs 5 mana and thus doesn't help you win by turn 5. If something doesn't go perfectly, Subject 9 helps in keeping pressure up and getting value up to a point when you can win.
