[World of Warcraft] How I Hit Server First 85

A brief story of the events that took place in order for me to get server first level 85. I made this video to give an additional perspective to those interested in my last video about what it will take to get server first level 90 in Mists of Pandaria.
Prepare like a madman, and go strong all the way, regardless of whether you may be behind or disadvantaged.

80-85 took about 10 hours. I had slept before the grind, so I was up about 24 hours leveling then grinding instances in cata.

I love your First! videos when you realize you are in a tough spot, you are doing something but it doesnt go as planned, you just keep going, coming up with new strategies, dont give up, and in the end you are victorious. Like at the Ironman competition you realized you are behind by a good amount, and in this video when you realized your main strategy is screwed you just kept going. You are sending a message in these videos which applies to all of us and in life too. Thanks man, keep it going!

there was much less strategy involved in D2. If you keep focus and you know the game well enough, youll make it pretty high up on the ladder.

I dont think Ive held anything back. But keep in mind, the first step is to see what kind of macros people are using. The next is to understand why they are using them, and what they want to accomplish. Lastly, to make your own macros :P

if I ever get my invite to beta I have full intention of mapping out my quest line for server first 90 monk.. I was within half an hour of server first dk for wrath.. and minutes of server first 85 warrior for cata... I won't be freaking losing this expansion lol.. good motivation krip keep it coming

Kripparrian, I really like your guide on how to reach 90 etc. I was just wondering are you planning on making a guide for the quickest way 1 trough 85? Cause I want to reach 90 realm first but as a hunter and play hunter for MoP. But I hate leveling trough content I did over and over... I was just wondering what your 'quickest' way is :)

I feel your pain Kripp. I had the same plan for the Vikings in north west icecrown. They were lvl 80 mobs with less then full health cause they were fighting each other and gave full experience. I didnt have the beta so I could only test it on a 79 character between 2 different level 80 mobs. I was able to kill around 50 of these per minute with the new way moonfire worked, as long as I keep moving it got like wrath as an instant plus the dot and couple that with starfall. Yeah I remember all my work being tossed out the door because of beta players big mouths about tank group dropping wrath dungeons is faster then doing anything cata. I was so pissed. Good job figuring out another way. I was being griefed the whole time because someone knew I was trying for server first and on a pvp server.

I had the opposite expérience as you two. I also didnt play the beta and came back from a yearling hiatus a week before cataclysm. I was looking for some realm firsts to get, and settled for herbalism as a tauren druid, having a huge advantage over any other race/class combination. I found some routes online and noticed that gathering mats where actually giving you XP for the first time ever in WoW. Values seemed not too shabby but i couldnt test it obviously. Somewhere in my mind i thought that it could be a valid leveling strategy but focused on min maxxing realm first trade skills. I went in, started under dalaran uncontested until plants wouldnt level up herbalism, then went to Uldum and bam, realm first herbalism. I then went to Twilight Highlands as a level 80, with the Idea to farm enough plants for inscription and alchemy (I had prepared enough ressources to drop herbalism and levelup alchemy from scratch, only real preparztion i made). And then I started leveling up just by gathering plants. I was lop top100 at 81, top 50 at 82, top 10 at 83, and finally first to level 84. If you remember there was an insane amounts of plants in that zone on launchday, that got nerfed a week After release. I was gathering for my last level and some other druid joined me in the zone to steal my plants (he was from thé other top guild competing for realm firsts). I tried to bribe him with an inventory full or plants (worth like 50k+ gold in the following days) , but hé didnt want to. Hé eventually left, there were so many plants that itdidnt even slowed me down and I got realm first 85 ,by a huge margin :)

@Tinu75 needless to say I didn't actually get it. I had planned the whole time between the pre cata patch and the nerf to experience announcement. I had thousands of mana pots, flasks, food, and even my nephew who was 8 at the time able to run around spamming moonfire incase I needed a toilet break. When I was not at work or raiding I was killing vikings to become faster at it. Installed an auto mouse clicker to reduce finger fatigue. Still pains me to this day that all that work was for nothing.

@@TheCrawdaddy029 Ah yeah, always sad when you get fucked by a last minute patch that you couldn't foresee. I wonder if Blizzard always planned to do that to transition into the new xpac or if they noticed other players like you trying these "unintented" strategies during the beta.

@Tinu75 I don't know but something blizzard always planned, absolutely did not help at all the people were running their mouth about it. You could probably still find videos on KZbin about beta testers doing tank drop dungeons . I want to say it was one of those storm Peak dungeons, but I don't remember exactly which. Basically a group of five as normal would drop the tank from the group, the tank would go pick up all the ads and do damage to them, the rest of the group started killing them after the tank got all the ads, once they were all dead they didn't bite the tank back to the group. Repeat

Cool idea with the Icecrown farming, however you could notice a small way of how to skip the first subzone of vashjr after getting your mount and gettign infront of everyone by going solo to second subzone and doing quests there instantly. Worked for my realm first ;)

Hey mate, this question goes to anyone who might have an answer. I followed the updated link in your UI video. I backup-ed the files, unzipped your's into my wow folder, renamed everything, loaded out of date and all addons. You said some things were updated from when you had the old vid, for example you dont use Gladius nowadays as far as i can tell from the list of addons. Im playing in 1920 x1080 btw. Some things are out of place such as the cast bar and i cant seem to fix it.Any suggestions?

U had the biggest advantage really- experienced hunter, they are best class for questing- i got a hunter to 60 in 2 day (not played time) and i was just questing and having fun. but gz on the achi anyway :)

I got a realm first 85 as a hunter on my realm as well, was solo questing as well. Got out of Hyjal quickly just like you, Deepholm, Uldum and Twilight Highlands was for me alone :d

Dunno if anyone is around here still, but I have a question, why weren't there any opposing faction people dedicated exclusively to sniping people who were trying to get server first? Like, if I had a big guild I'd have a group of rogues and ask them to make the 'sacrifice' and go camp some questing area slightly ahead of the starting one and just wipe anyone trying to get through there. Why wouldn't that work?

Even if D3 is what you hope it'll be, just get server first 90 so that you can wrap up your flawless WoW experience. You'll regret it man just listening to the way you described your cata grind experience I can tell you had a blast

I had a similar situation getting warlock first level 85. I wasn't even in the beta and this other warlock was about a level ahead early on. He was doing instances instead of questing and I noticed the time between him dinging and me dinging 83 and 84 was closing which meant his group was not getting enough xp anymore. I ended up beating him by about an hour.

Kripp you should do a more up to date on a hunter dps guide since your last one is extreamly out of date with several mechanics missing with buffs.

It is very easy to max xp per hour without using others : You do not rush to new zones,but hang around zones with quests and mobs below your actually lvl.

When wrath of the lich king was gonna release, i had a urge to be the first one in my guild to be 80, which might not seem hard but im not the quickest quester and i had some guildies that were good at breezing thru levels, etc. Anyways I got lucky that my main concern speed guildie was a day late getting the expansion but anyways there was one guildie that kept pushing me to go faster and faster cuz he was right on my tail all the way......continue...

Kripp, I know this comment is late as $@%. But I was on the MoP Beta a long time ago, and they actually did not have jade forests quests available? You started at 86 on beta. Do you think they did this so people going for world first couldnt simply practice the first zone repeatedly?
