I think he uses his height to his advantage really well. He hits the ball with a perfect launch angle to elevate the ball.

Stonefate 83 agreed. He gets lift and backspin. Hitting homeruns is as much about technique as it is strength ("power").

Omg. I didnt know this truth. He’s actually very powerful.

he says he isnt like mark mcgwire..... mark mcgwire was pretty skinny when he came in the league. Wait untill he reaches around 28 he'll get bigger and he will have to change his stance.

McGwire got bigger cause of steroids.

McGwire was skinnier his rookie year but still more muscular and built than Bryant is. Look at a picture of McGwire's rookie year and look at his arms. They are much, much bigger than Bryant's arms are. Bryant probably will get a little more weight/muscle on him as he ages but he won't get anywhere near as big as McGwire.

Mike got to the edge of it... then struck out! 'No one generates that kind of power...' Silliest thing I've ever heard. Watch a slow mo of Barry Bonds! Watch Chris Davis of the Orioles. He's lost for words or any kind of intelligent explanation @ 3:05 bcuz he's doesn't understand rotational hitting and proper elbow (triangle) structure in the modern MLB swing. @ 2:07 Napoli has bar'd his arm (slowing down his swing). Bryant's lead arm is still bent and his hands are higher. At contact @2:07 Bryant's lead arm is still bent, elbow chin level. This shape is the most powerful hitting position. This position allows Kris to continue to rotate faster and accelerate, then explode the bat thru the hitting zone. The head hardly moves bcuz it not supposed to. @ 2:08 you can draw a line from his foot thru his head... PERFECT ROTATIONAL AXIS... and a rotating mass generates more power than a linear mass... period. Also, you see his lead arm is above his follower (right) arm. This is classic Ted Williams power V... and that rhythms with P and that stands for power. Lowell and DeRosa are throw backs to the previous hitting school... movement generates power... linear, then rotate, so they don't understand why Bryant generates so much power.

Watch the feet, telelkey!. Back foot off ground, getting to the outside of his front foot just before and at contact. Watch Eric Davis Same "athletic" action. They actually drag their back foot laterally to maintain balance. ( Check Jimmie Foxx) These guys are dancers A high % of great power hitters exhibit this. (From Ruth, to Aaron, to Harper) Napoli is glued to the ground with his back foot. Both can generate power but smaller guys benefit more from the former approach. And they will hit for a higher average. Back foot power guys suffer from too much of an upswing.
