The wildly successful Isetta saved BMW from bankruptcy in the 1950's. Powered by a 1 cylinder 300cc BMW air cooled motorcycle engine, 70+ mpg.

Thanks so much for posting this video. First time I ever saw an Isetta running up and down the street.

I saw Petrolicious' video about the Isetta and its original owner Jack Charney and wanted to know if he still owned the car years later. Then this popped up in my recommended videos section! I am glad it did. So nice to see the car as beautiful as ever in your possession!

Thanks! I’m the lucky new caretaker. Jack contacted me in 2019 and I jumped at the chance. A lot of pleasure time and money spent to bring the car to factory original condition.

they were more reliable than today BMW. They didn't catch fire like while park with the ignition off.

That would be fun to drive. I would not want to get hit in it, though.

Yes. 4 forward gears and reverse gear.

Kris Trexler how does it reverse because I’ve seen inside an isetta and and I didn’t see and handle to pull for reverse

@@iplayyouwatch6897 the transmission shift lever is on the side panel to the left side of the driver's leg. All gears are selected with that lever. Right hand drive Isetta's in UK have the shift lever on the side panel to the right side of the driver's leg.
