@@benedettadeluca7910 And the benefits of working through all of it is beyond imagining! You CAN do it. I have found in my own life that the harder the task, the greater the joy as long as I'm following Jesus's lead. And yes, sometimes it's so scary that I'm frozen in place, but He always waits until I follow. Other times, I have to ask Him to help me forgive someone when I don't have the desire to do so. The He allows me to struggle until I give up "my rights" and surrender to His will. The life and peace I have now is so much better than the strife and struggle I had before. You CAN do it! And, yes, it might be the hardest thing you've ever done. But Jesus only puts us through the fiery furnace to cleanse us from the dross that makes us impure. I was amazed when I found out that the way you can tell if the molten gold is pure or not is to see if you can see your reflection in it. I imagine as Jesus is purifying me, He's looking to see His reflection in me.

Maybe that was a good thing. The Lord has been dealing with me about “coming out from among them and being separate”. I pray for them, but I no longer associate on any and all holidays or family get together or celebrations. The reason: they are all following an anti-Christian path of extreme left wing (demonic) liberalism. I thank God He pulled me out of that into His Glorious light. It has been so much more peaceful to set boundaries and quietly pray. At least now He has revealed to me the real battle of darkness and light.

God put a book right into my hands, and the name of it was “Boundaries” by Drs Cloud and Townsend, two Christian men. It was probably about 25 years ago. I never had a problem with saying NO again. I still love to give, help, serve, support and donate, but I’ve learned to listen to God much better, and discern when to say yes, and when to say no. I once thought a good Christian should never say no to any request so I was always bailing out friends, one in particular, a certain “friend” who never had money to pay for herself. God told me to STOP doing that, because she was just lazy and if I kept bailing her out she’d never feel the consequences of her own actions. In other words I was hindering the lesson God was trying to give her. So I stopped, but it was right after that, God showed me that book and told me to read it. (Did I mention I almost never saw her again, at least not nearly as often , once I stopped paying her way?) It wasn’t enough to just know I needed to stop, I needed to know why so I wouldn’t do it again. I think it was their first “Boundaries” book but newer ones have come out since then. The first one was effective enough for me to never forget the lessons taught. And all based on biblical wisdom. I give the book a thumbs up 👍

Then he took advantage of our sweet awesome Mom, financially when she was a new widow. I dropped him out of my life 6 years ago. So glad I did. He is poison. Thank you, I was relieved many years ago when the Lord showed me the need for boundaries. In my ungodly family the members used intimidation and manipulation over the silliest things to control how I felt about myself. They needed to feel superior and I was the means to that end. The Lord was so gracious to allow me to have joy no matter the silly expectations of others. I do what I can as led by the Holy Spirit and feel no sense of having to do what others want me to do aside from the Holy Spirit.

This recovering co-dependent is cheering you. Our Christian pastors, counselors and elders NEED this information. I was told by more than one well meaning male authority figure from my church that I simply needed to stay put in my marriage and that I needed to learn to forgive. I'll forgive. But he needs to be out of my home, life, and finances before I can do that. He was taking serious advantage of me and didn't love me. Some people need to be loved from a distance. 1 Timothy 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

The whole context of 1 Timothy 5:8 is caring for one another in the BELIEVERS community (which is "household" in biblical language) and among the church saints, not quite being a lifelong servant for unbelieving and toxic family members.

Spot on! Thanks love without respect is not love. And we need to love others like we love ourselves. So first love yourself, you don't need to prove yourself to "earn respect", you were made in God's imagine and that's enough value to receive respect and give respect to other men/women created as well in his image. You are and that is enough for respect. Dignity comes from God. And He made you in his image so bear it. Your worth is what He said it is, He payed for you, now ponder and understand it, that by letting others walk all over you, you don't understand your worth and the love He has for you, neither the price He payed for you. Do not dishonour his sacrifice nor his creation. Boundaries are an intricate part of what love is, love is not without respect.

I have had family I will never deal with or go around who are in fact toxic and behave in a way that they act like they are above you and have rights to try to make you bend to what they desire for you in your own life. Abusive and toxic behaviors and put downs. It so unhealthy and toxic. No one should tolerate that. I love your message because truth is truth you are not suppose to tell people to endure Abusive behaviors from people who trying to control and manipulate your life.

God knows what you need, when you need it. Just last night, i had a very painful and eye opening encounter with a family memeber. After sarificing my security, moving my son to a new area and giving up my private nursing business to solely care for my grandmother, i was threatened to be put out of her house after just giving up my keys to my apartment. Ive worked tirelessly without complaining about lack of income, make 4 trips daily literally going 2 times a day only leaving because i now have to pick my son up from school due to moving to be closer to her. I prayed lastnight for god to be clear about my mission because my family has alway been very mean to me and without a second thought, i uprooted my life to ensure there are no worries for my family during this time because i am able but yet i feel alone, taken advantage of and all because i needed a day to myself to rest yesterday. I prayed why a i required to be put in such a toxic environment to be of service...and then this video came up in my timeline. He hears our prayers and knows our heart and with patience, like Abraham we will be rewarded Hebrews 6: 13-15 ❤

Romans 2:6 (KJV) Who will render to every man according to his deeds: Romans 2:7 (KJV) To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: Romans 2:8 (KJV) But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Romans 2:9 (KJV) Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;. I'd say .... In this case, God sees you and appreciates your dedication BUT he also sees THEM! In that case.....YOU SHOULD PRAY FOR THEIR Soul, as they will certainly not escape his wrath.

Absolutely we need boundaries otherwise we allow abusers intentionally or unintentionally to create havoc in our inner most being. Boundaries are helpful so we can be confident and not anxious about those who we need to safe guard against. This is all about being wise and not simple minded. Thank you for using holy scripture to identify the need for personal boundaries. God our Father wants His children to walk in freedom and not be victims of abuse.

You are a wise godly woman. Your advice about the difference between carrying loads over burdens has enabled me to understand more about toxic people, most notably covert narcissists. Covert narcissists are different from your loved ones. Sometimes in marital relationships, one is bound to carry the other person’s cross-but so will the covert narcissist-when in fact their burdens in life is simply a load they expect you to carry. The cross they refuse to carry for themselves, they will throw theirs on top of the one you’re carrying also. And even in their arrogance and a sense of self-righteous entitlement, they’ll even sit upon the cross on your back like a chariot so they don’t have to walk, too. Moral of the story-don’t put up with it. Set firm boundaries so they don’t rob you of your God given dignity as narcissistic supply for themselves.

You’re not any better than a narcissist as you were born a sinner as well. If you’re not covered by the blood of Christ, you will never see heaven. Jesus was the only man deserving of any good. I can instantly tell this channel isn’t Christian as females are not to teach the Bible to men, exhorting authority over them, as the Bible says.

Part of setting boundaries when it comes to family members, can feel very unnatural. However, it is very much needed. I'd say, start by taking baby steps. For example, the word "no". If God has made us in his own image, we should value how he sees us. Very difficult at times, understandably. However, we cannot give what we don't have. We're are just helping to perpetualte the cycles of negative behaviours.

So true ... some people consider setting a boundary to be "hate" .... last March my husband called his mother and told her not to call me anymore, to only call him. For years my MIL would call me up and everything would start out ok, but then her criticism and ridicule would start. This happened with each phone call. Got to where I dreaded seeing her number on my cell phone. So I told my husband I just can't take anymore of her calls because she was unwilling to change, did not see anything wrong with criticizing me. And now she's telling my husband that I "hate" her, when nothing could be further from the truth. He tried to explain that I don't hate anyone, but that Dru is tired of being criticized and all she could say was that I'm "too sensitive" and then laughed. Yeah she thinks I "hate" her because I've put a healthy boundary up so she can't verbally & emotionally abuse me anymore.

I need to stop being desperate for love that’s not there.

One thing I had to learn that a lot of people told me wrong was that anger in itself is not a sin it's how that anger is applied to determines whether it is sinful or not. So many people told me wrong there have been so many people who have told me that it's a sin to get angry and they were so wrong. It did me no favors, because now with in recent years I've been learning how to have a sense of what righteous anger is and having a sense of righteous anger is essential to biblical manhood

As she said, a lot of the people who use but don't teach boundaries are the kind that in that point in life for them it's rules about you and not for them. I read into it a little, but I think it fits. You have to draw a line. There's a part in people that want to give and give and give and give, and that's good. It can't be unaware though. Choosing to give is a whole lot different than a lot of other ways.

It someone hits your right cheek give them the other, does not mean allow others to violate you. Most people are right handed, especially back then. To hit your right cheek it would be from a backhand. Backhand was done to reprimand and means you screwed up. So take your consequences. Nowhere else does He say allow others to violate you. He says do not repay evil with evil.

I was married for over 20 years. I noticed many times within my marriage that I continued to feel used because I was raised to turn the other cheek along with other scriptures. My family is very Christian and believe all you need to do is pray and let God. I finally decided to lay my Bible down because the more I read my Bible and prayed things just continued to be toxic. I separated from my husband one day and told him not to come back to find a place to live. I didn't care anymore about his smear campaign to get me under control I stood the course. It's been over 6 1/2 years and I have gone no contact because there has been no positive communication, whenever I tried to be practical and set boundaries as far as visitation with the children it was meet with resistance so I decided if he wants to visitation with them he can get a court order.

Kris, thank you so much for this teaching. It's so much needed. In fact I really don't see any teaching on this in general. I have an excellent book called boundaries in marriage. One of the authors is dr Henry Townsend, an excellent book. That book saved my marriage. My wife wasn't toxic as such, but the way she was brought up cultivated a habit in her character that almost ruined our marriage. Somebody brought this to my attention. I couldn't put my finger on the problem, but I knew something was wrong. Once that person helped me to see what is going on I had to decide what to do. By that time we were married for ten years, our kids were still small 8, 5 and 2. Some people even encouraged me to get a divorce. I told myself, it's easy for them to speak. Look at my three boys, it broke my heart. I decided to stand firm and set boundaries. It took time, well over two years. It was met with resistance and unbelief. But eventually the situation was turned around. My marriage was saved and we have a wonderful healthy relationship today. Our boys are now 22, 19 and 16, I thank God for his grace. Thank you Kris for your ministry, much love and blessings from South Africa.
