Boosters are so overlooked. People keep buying different pedals to find their tone but they seem to forget about boosters. They can do so much for your tone. They can enhance presence, harmonic content, boost overdrive pedals into high saturation before it hits the preamp etc. Brilliant video Kris. Thank you 🤘🏻

Great review Chris, but I was already a convert to the Super Clean (and EP Boost, SP Compressor, & SL Drive). Lots of fun to watch and I definitely leave with some ideas to try out. Cheers.

I have a sonic maximizer pedal that was recommended by someone at work. I don't know if it is a boost pedal, but it does act as one. It's at the beginning of my chain and it's ALWAYS on! I always use the clean channel on my amp and pedals for all the effects. I just got a delay pedal (the Cosmonaut VZ by Matthews effects) and can't wait to try it out!!

My Super Clean is always-on in the front of a minimalist effects chain. It’s like a magic/secret ingredient.

Love my Super Sweet at beginning of chain. The dipswitches are a godsend and easier to use live than expected when switching guitars. It’s also taken my cheaper pedals like my MojoMojo or MXR classic and turn them into powerhouses. I do use a cheap booster in my fx loop to give a clean solo boost.

I have had an EP Booster from Xotic for years. I’ve used it as my only pedal in front of a DSL-40 to boost for heavier parts. Used it with a Mesa Mk. 5 as a volume boost or to boost signals going in. But my favorite use so far, is using my 1958 Tweed Deluxe on about 3.5 and hitting the boost for raising gain and volume for almost a 2nd channel and using an overdrive for a heavy sound and boosting the volume of that. Xotic boosts are simple and easy to use. I absolutely love them. Not sure I would build any pedal board without one. Great video and that Tele into the boost sounds so great, Kris. Love your videos and if you are ever in Tulsa bring that Tele and we will plug it into a boost then into my Deluxe.... it may turn out to be one of the sounds that fixes all the worlds problems. Lol. Thanks brother and happy birthday.

Great review and demo! I have an EP boost 'always on' into my effects loop and my lead boost is a Super Sweet/EP Boost/Dispatch Master all looped together. I just ordered the Super Clean to give some volume and different EQ push for those inside solos between the chords. Big fan of the Xotic mini pedals. Your video is so well done, thanks!...subcribed!

Hey Kris, love your videos and guitar playing. im looking to get a little more “oomph” from my clean channel. I like my clean channel to have more bite,fullness and sustain….but not quite overdrive,just more richness and complexity and a bit more volume when engaging the boost. wich pedal do you think would work better for that? ? Im looking at ep boost,super sweet or super clean. Its going in the front of a Splawn Nitro. Thanks!

I have an xotic ep boost and it is awesome... I actually use 3 boost pedals on my board: Analogman Beeno treble booster in front of my drive pedals, the ep boost right after the drives to boost for solos, and a Kingsley Page always on at the end of the chain. Overkill? Perhaps, but it sounds soooo good.

Really enjoyed this video and I would literally buy a super sweet boost based off of this video if I had the money right now haha. I do think that the clip between 5:12 and 5:16 of your facial expression changing when you turn the boost on basically sums up why you need a boost haha

And what time you call this? Haha ... Anyway, I love boost pedals, so simple, yet so versatile pedals. Lately Im finding myself using my boost always on as a dynamic enhancer. It is more feel thing, than sound thing. I just love the way it adds to pick dynamics. One way, that was not mentioned here is using boost to "fake" fuzz pedal. Turn tbe boost relatively low and use dimed full range overdrive in front f it. Because of this, I still dont have any dedicated fuzz pedal. (But the new JHS Bender is kinda calling my name, I will see, I will see :D )

Hi Kris thanks for your good explanation but can you place the super clean and/or behind your distortion? First I have Chromatic tuner/Wahwah/Compressor/overdrive/distorsion and then the super clean/sweet. And then Chorus/delay/reverb and another buffer? Or better behind the tuner? Thank you

@KrisBarocsi
@KrisBarocsi Жыл бұрын
Hey, the TS isn’t really a Pedal you would use with a completely clean amp. Try it with a slight crunch on the amp, there’s killer. The Super Sweet can help to increase the saturation too, so in a way that could help, yes. Cheers!

It's so weird when people just do random licks (not even in coordination with any musical melodies.They just began blasting away in their safety box on the neck, oblivious to what they are doing... Meaning there's no reason to be hitting those notes.It only sounds like someone running through the scales. . It's just floating licks all over the place like they're trying to get in as much as they can jumping from one thing to the next. There's no strong foundation . I'm not saying they don't know how to play music it's just that people have a bad habit of not understanding that less is better. You could only do a few notes, and be more effective.Hearing the tone better..
