Great demo! The clarity along with high end is restored. This is why you have to know what all your pedals and guitars and amps do. Thanks for doing this demo.

Michal Mikolaj Maslowski Hi Michael. Thank you. It should be out really soon. Both are great. I have the super sweet and ep on my board right now tracking some guitars on a project I am working on. The super sweet as a boost into my overdrive and the different voicings are super handy for enhancing mids or rolling off some high end. Ep is after for color and slight boost. Cheers

I don't like buffers, they make my mistakes stand out more. seriously though, this maybe the reason i'm always turning up the treble on my amp, though I thought a few of my pedals would be buffered. got something to check now. sweet riffs and tones as usual from yourself.

Both pedals sound great and I realize they are probably 'set it and forget' type pedals. However, I question the ergonomics of DIP switches when mounted on the board verses a boost with knobs to control secondary settings. Just my opinion. Demo is well done.

to be fair your are using one the best amps in the world with one of the best overdrive pedals on the world as a starting point
@SimonGotthelfMusic4 жыл бұрын
The Fender Bassman is awesome. No overdrive pedal in the song though - the drive comes from the super sweep pushing the amp into natural overdrive. Great pedals IMO. But like I also demonstrate in the video the pedals are really good at pushing an overdrive pedal too. The RD on my board is my favorite but most overdrive pedals sound better with a booster in my opinion. I always enjoy stacking pedals 😊 Cheers Simon

Hi Simon! I'd like to know your opinion about how these 2 pedals compare soundwise to the old Xotic RC Booster (though it probably lacks the buffer function)
@SimonGotthelfMusic3 жыл бұрын
Hi Pat. The RC is different because it is a mild overdrive. SS and SC don’t have any drive only volume boost. It makes a different sound. The new version of the RC (from the Scott H version and forward) have a different EQ voicing with a sweeter top end. Great pedal. The boost pedal are natural boost without color (though you can add mids, treble...) Cheers Simon

boogieplex I love this Lollar P90 pickups. It is not very high output and has a little less mids so it works with the singlecoil. But still has that Boye and cut I want. It is the best P90 I have tried. Cheers Simon

Thanks Simon, nice vid. I’m with you re needing the buffer to bring back that lost top end sparkle and shine. I’m using the buffer in the TC Polytune 3 and it seems to do a great job. Question is, how many buffers do you find necessary to do the job in a board such as yours? Is one enough, or would two make a big difference?
@SimonGotthelfMusic5 жыл бұрын
James Hi and thank you. The Poly3 is great and does the job, no problem. If you want to have another buffer at the end of the pedalboard I would recommend the Super Sweet to have the boost. It will also help driving the sound all the way to your amp. You don´t need a lot of buffers, it depends on the pedals, cables and stuff. But one at the beginning and one at the end would be a good thing. (Sometimes your pedal already have built in buffers). Cheers Simon

In my experience the Polytune 3 buffer is not so good... I'm using an Analogman buffer and I find it really better than the one in Poly3. I also think the buffer in these Xotic pedals shall be much better than the Poly3.

Hello Simon, How does this compare to a TS 808 set to boost an amp or another drive pedal? Does the TS characteristic mid hump similar to the mid boost setting on this? I have mini TS that I use as a boost. I like it but I’m wondering if the xotic will be able to replace it and I can take advantage of the buffered bypass. The mini tubescreamer is true bypass. Thanks.
@SimonGotthelfMusic5 жыл бұрын
MrButterscotchblond Hi. It is not the same sound as the TS. Mids are different and the high end too. The boost pedals are more open sounding. But I use it like you say on my own pedalboard and I like to be able to have it as clean boost or mid boost when I need it. Cheers Simon

Hold on......110ft cable from board to amp? Most venue I play aren’t 110ft wide in total! 😜😂 I use a GigRig loop switcher and 2x20ft cables, so most of my pedals are out of circuit most of the time........that seems to sort the high end attenuation out.........nothing against buffers, but will only buy if absolutely needed! That being said, I love Xotic stuff, and love the sound of these pedals! I winder how they compare to my always on SP, and solo boost EP, and interact with my AC and BB....🤔..........I did say I liked Xotic stuff! 🤪😎

Peter Graham I know 110ft is insane. I just used that much cable to show the power of a good buffer :) I makes a difference on shorter more normal cable lenghts too. Cheers Simon

I use these type of boosts in my 2 loop's of the Tonemaster Using an EP in the drive channel loop and a Fatboost in the clean Almost no pedals needed out front except for modulation or whatnot and a TS for a lead boost So have been looking something a little tastier for the loops These might be just what I'm looking for Have you tried them in a loop Thanks

Which one would you recommend for boosting a strat to match a humbucking guitar volume wise? The thing is that I want it to be at the end of the chain to just raise the volume a bit, not to boost it going into my pedals or make it thicker then it normally would be. Just louder. I like how the guitar interacts with pedals naturally without any buffers up front. Thoughts?
@SimonGotthelfMusic5 жыл бұрын
Miles Harris I that case any one of these pedals would work. They do the same thing but at different levels of boost. If you just want a subtle boost you might want to go the the super clean. That will give you more control over the range of boost. But both will work. Cheers Simon

Hi Simon. Does the buffer or bypass switch affect the tone when the pedal is on? I know the klon states on the pedal for that switch that buffer is almost always better than the bypass. Or is it only for when the pedal is off, how the signal runs through it. Thansk
@SimonGotthelfMusic5 жыл бұрын
Only when it is off. When the pedal is on you have the tone of the pedal, but when it is off the high end can be lost if you have to many pedals or too much cable. Then the buffer is recommended. Cheers Simon

Paul Blanchet Not at all, I can´t hear them. I just put these on my pedalboard and started playing. Haven´t thought about it since. You will hear it as clarity if you only have true bypass on your board but mine was buffered anyway. Cheers Simon

The circuit is essentially the same but different amounts of boost. If you want to see a comparison video you can check out my ep booster vs super sweet booster video. Those pedals are different and both great. Cheers Simon
