Do you remember Krista Siegfrids from Finland? In 2013 she was so desperate for her boyfriend to propose to her that she went on television in front of hundreds of millions of people to sing about it (subtle, eh?). Well, this year whilst on holiday in the Maldives her boyfriend, Janne Grönroos, popped the question! They have been together for 10 years! Crazy to think that this song was on Eurovision before gay marriage was legalized in Finland... I remember seeing this as a kid and being amazed that Krista kissed a girl. 7 years later I've realized that I'm a lesbian. I'm so glad that this performance exists

They didn't loose broadcasting rights then. In 2013 China cut this kiss out of their broadcast. They didn't loose broadcasting rights then. It's only in the later years that the EBU started saying enough is enough.

How things have changed. Back in 2003, Russia's entry (the controversial "lesbian" duo t.A.T.u) was banned from kissing on stage because it was deemed inappropriate for ESC. Now fast forward 10 years and you see this. Still a great song though!

In the context of the E.S.C., this was perfect Eurovision pop and a flawless performance. The choreography, the expressions, it all worked very well. I was genuinely surprised it failed so emphatically. As for the best song(s), The Netherlands and Italy put in very soulful performances of their songs. They were never likely to win but that is usually true for the best songs. (Witness Finland and Spain last year). Anyway, just my 2 cents worth.

In recent years, Finland has offered many good songs but did not succeed well after Lordi's victory, and after the second place with Cha cha cha, one wonders if Finland can ever get the chance to win again. 2013 stood between for many, Norway and Denmark but Denmark did have the better card because it reminded of danish culture (folk i mean) and ours (Norway) didn't. Why the hell do you think Norway won the 2009 ESC? Because we used our culture, had very different lyrics than the average guy singing about girl (lol it was about that but like an old fairytale hence the name of the song), and outstanding on-stage visuals with parkour dancer and singing fairies and ofc the violinist himself, Rybak with raw strong vocals. Marry me is a banger for me still but a winner pick it's not... Heck i'm not even that crazy about the 2014 winner and i'm gay... I should be praising that song, yet i don't. Tho i wonder what would've happened to Norway if we'd let Adelen represent us with Bombo... (She got to 2nd place in norwegian mgp 2013)
