@@allenxavier6073 He is a lot more defensive minded than Powell, and has a better shot. For me is a no brainer, but Kleber is often inconsistent with his performance, and RC has a man crush in Powell(possibly because he is really consistent, specially on offense)
@allenxavier60734 жыл бұрын
@@edmartinezdj9034 The only thing Powell have an edge on Kleber is his hustle, which I think is part of the reason RC is starting him. Anyway, Kleber's shooting have been steadily improving, next season for sure, he'll be more consistent.
@edmartinezdj90344 жыл бұрын
@@allenxavier6073 His problems with consistency and his deficiencies compared to Powell come from just 1 place and is not his shot. Conditioning. While Kleber athleticism is pretty decent, Powell's is borderline elite, and while Kleber tends to start the season strong and wear down after march, Powell is a strong finisher on the last months of the season. Probably works harder too. There is why RC seems to prefer him. Kleber technically is vastly superior to Powell, has a good mid and long range jumper, hooks, can do a turn around and is great at fakes.Powell is just a dunk and lay up guy that handles the ball(and finishes) slightly better. But Kleber has the potential to be an elite shot blocking specialist, because he has a great standing jump and reach, and a great second jump. He basically bullied Zion the first time they played, gave him like 6 blocks... And Powell's defense is quite meh.

Kristaps Porzingis is probably the most athletic 7'3+ player I've ever seen besides Ralph Sampson (7'4). If Sampson had been playing in today's NBA, he'd be encourage to splash triples too. @@allenxavier6073 He lacks strenght and post presence, shorter stronger players give him trouble close to the basket. He also doesn't use hooks and post moves the ways some like Pau Gasol would, to overcome these deficiencies. He is more of a Dirk/KG hybrid thats why he often does better at PF.

@allenxavier60734 жыл бұрын
@@edmartinezdj9034 I mean, KP started his crazy games when the Mavs starting Center got injured, forcing him to play the 5, that should give you a hint already.
@edmartinezdj90344 жыл бұрын
@@allenxavier6073 I watched him play more than you trust me. All the points I made are valid. And If Dwight Powell was not injured he would be playing 4.Thats the only reason Carlisle moved him to 5 TBH I prefer him at 5, just because I prefer Kleber to Powell(better shooter and defender), and that gives the chance to Kleber playing 4. DP can't play 4 Kleber can. Talking Porzingis at 5, I like it, because he rolls more to the basket but like I said he lacks muscle. Just check the game against Utah, he got like 3 rebounds and Gobert ate him alive. When he played the Lakers AD, Howard and McGee bullied him too. His height is an anomaly, he grew really late, hence his shooting and handling skills and his speed and bounce. He was 6'7 at 15 years old and wasn't projected to grow taller than 6'10 6'11 at most. And he used to be a combo forward, playing both 3 and 4 spots back in Spain. For comparison Luka grew just 2 to 3 inches from 15 years old to now, from 6'4 or so to 6'7. KP grew 8 inches on the same period... Problem is he is not exactly built like David Robinson, which is a comparable player by size and style but was a lot more assertive in the paint, and a vastly superior rebounder.Also as I explained he doesn't really have experience playing 5 because of the way he grew, and his outstanding shot, allowed him to play 4 eveb when he was taller than most 5. He needs to develop a crafty post game to counter this weakness, kind of like Gasol and Duncan(also late growers and late bloomers like KP), to be complete, and also keep strenghtening his upper body and core like he did last post season. Particularly it looks glaring to me that no one thought about teaching him some hooks, given his crazy height and wingspan. Even thought the hook shot is not in trend, its still a really valid resource on middle to short distance when you don't have space to manouver. And this is the main fault of KP, that he is great with space and suffers without it, because he struggles to create it by himself. Hence why he is more a 4 than a 5 and himself likes playing the 4, because he can use the threat of his shot to create spaces, and because he doesn't have to bang with stronger guys for rebounds, which he doesn't enjoy.
