In an interview with Access Hollywood's Scott Evans, Kristen Bell talked about her 5-year-old daughter Delta's unique way of dressing, her longtime friendship with her "Central Park" co-star Leslie Odom Jr. and the inspiration behind her new children's book, "The World Needs More Purple People," which is on shelves now. She also explained how she and husband Dax Shepard used their time in self-isolation to do some "marriage housecleaning" and work on overcoming some "confirmation bias" about each other.

We fight a lot with our significant other because its normal and it's ok. That means there's communication, freedom to express what we think and how we feel and most importantly we are spending time with that person. Its also crucial to understand that even though you're mad or you fought you still love them and it doesn't mean that it's the end of the relationship. I LOVE Kristen Bell ... she is so funny, smart, insightful, open, honest, friendly and approachable. Everyone feels like she's their best buddy (and I'll bet if we met her, she'd treat each and every one of us like we were BFF's. So genuine!). I also learn so much from watching & listening to her. She's like a therapist for the world!! I would really like to know what brand & shade of nailpolish she's wearing. I am a purple person (& plan to buy that book for myself, even though I have no kids. May share with my 12 & 10-yr old nephews, who might think they're too old for it all. I want to say thank you for opening up about your daughter. my daughter was on a feeding tube for a long time, now she is 8 year old and she eats food but it not what people would think is right but she is a purple person. she had 27 surgerys. she can eat every 2 hours and i will mix any thing together that she wants to eat together. you are a great mom

@@judithrichards5754 thank you. they found 2 brain tumors and my daughter is still fighting for every thing she has. one of the brain tumors is in her brain stem and can not be remove and in a week we find out if the other one can be removed, they both are gowning but so is my daughter in many ways. it may not be like other kids but she still is my little purple person. life my throw her hard stuff but she has shown us that no one dose everything the same way. thank you

I love the idea of the book, but honestly I think that the quality "you laugh a lot" is quite problematic. Especially girls and women are constantly told to laugh more - and also, people can be happy and nice without having to laugh. Everyone expresses their feelings differently and there really is already enough pressure on females to smile/laugh I get her intention though

I agree with your underlying thought but I'm not sure that's what she is saying. I have depression and I spend a lot of time trying to act "normal" by smiling and interacting with people. When I am struggling and people (mostly men) tell me I should smile more it makes me absolutely crazy. I think Kristen's idea is not a forced joy but trying to see real humor in life and being silly and playful. Adults need to find their inner child and just relax and let loose sometimes.

She shares little, quick stories about her children. Who cares?! If you take it the wrong way that’s more telling about you than her. Plus... she doesn’t share her children! We haven’t seen them and we won’t! She decided they would not be seen unless they decided it when they were older. That’s pretty amazing actually!

I think it is helping other parents not to strive for perfection within themselves or their children. Let kids take their own path, be weird, be innocent, do what feels comfortable in a SAFE environment and not compare kids to others. One of my girls went through a naked stage, a stage where she had issues with going to the toilet. She is HIGHLY intelligent and that was her way of being in control, and I let her do that. She is now 7 and fully clothed, has control of her body and is thriving in school.
