Amber Griffith The thing is that she actually does, she is witty, she has anecdotes for a lot of things, she's not afraid to fall flat on her face with a joke. She may be awkward and nervous (and star in a pretty shit vampire series), but compared to Generic-Actress-X™ she doesn't follow the well-staged routine lined up for her that 99% of actresses follow. I wouldn't make her a role model for my daughter, but if I was forced at gunpoint between her and the majority of others I'd choose her because I can see that she is a human being with frailties.

As someone who is social anxious, I can honestly say that everything Kristen does, all the movements, the way she speaks, is the same type of shit I do when I'm in social situations. It's hard enough to regularly converse with people, let alone the things she does. But I admire her, because despite it all (if she does have social anxiety) she goes out everyday and steps out of her comfort zone and does what she loves, and I hope that one day I can be that way as well. Wanting to act while being socially anxious is a fucking curse, so I give her props.

Trackpad I’ve seen short films where other actors have commented on her style and how it’s actually really difficult to express everything she does WITHOUT saying anything. I’ve heard big directors say that about experienced award winning actresses. That it’s just a joy to watch them do so much with the smallest amount of dialogue. That the best ones out there can work without it. I think that director was commenting on Big Little Lies, working with Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon

+Daniel Fleming While I do understand your point and agree with it, I would just like to simply add a footnote that if you are referring to the extreme fear of being scrutinized and the fear of being judged by others in any social gathering, then it is nothing to be proud of either. It is a problem. And people need to manage and fix it rather than take a step back and welcome it. More so for a celebrity (i.e. a person who is famous; who is idolized) who is followed by people and used as a role model. Social Anxiety, while being present for EVERY person's psyche out there is felt and embedded in varying degrees; it is different for everyone, yet the older generation managed it better back then because they took a stand and tried to get out there and fix it; back then everyone NEEDED to be social. Right now though, is more of a phenomenon rather than a disorder because people feel that it is okay and simply shut themselves off. More so with the help of the internet, people interact less and just grow further apart. To summarize, if you have it, I hope you are seeking counsel from a doctor, family/friends, etc and I wish only the best for you. Good luck.

+Daniel Fleming Social Anxiety is aweful. It's something you wish you didn't have. You know you shouldn't think that way but you can't help it and you get mad at yourself for it. You think about "am I standing normally", "am I looking the right direction" etc. Talking to people is awkward you don't know where to look because looking at their face/eyes makes you extremely anxious but turning away from their face to look at the ground you think "does this make me look wierd". Social anxiety is the most annoying, worst things any person can have and it makes something as basic as paying for a chocolate bar a worry. Nothing to be proud of.

I guess what Adam saying is, people back then didn't have a choice. People these days can go to their room lock up, connect to the internet and just runaway. People back then spend more time with others. Anxiety shouldn't remain as an excuse. If you are really bothered by it, like Adam said, seek help. You can't always use it as an excuse to people so others will adjust. It's a process. You can't just stop and hey, I have an anxiety so.. etc etc etc. True it's nothing to be ashamed of, but you can't just stop there.
