On Hot Ones, KStew said that if an interviewer doesn’t seem to really care about the movie or the questions they’re asking, she kinda shuts down and gives blasé answers. So, the fact the she’s so pumped while answering is a compliment to Maude’s interviewing abilities.

I understand what kristen is saying but I also don’t like the narrative that explaining your sexuality to someone (or a character being explicitly gay/bi) is considered “violent” like- saying you’re lgbt should be the same as saying you’re straight. we’re looking to normalize different sexualities and different gender identities not make people afraid to ask questions. her sexuality may be “complex” and capable of change but for a lot of people that’s just not the case and representation of lgbt that is explicit and not just a look in another characters direction is important
@blablabla94015 жыл бұрын
what...3% of the population are lgbt. But this topic comes to the front ALL THE DAMN time now. Do you really think the CONSTANT and blatant thematization is not actually achieving the opposite?
@jojodunn8355 жыл бұрын
I, very politely, disagree. Fair points, totally. It's just, I think she's saying it shouldn't matter. Part of the stigma of identify is it sort of defines you, as a character in film. I think what she means is the less we focus on it, the more people can just be. Especially if it's not detrimental to the story being told. It's just an aspect of her character. Not a defining quality. That could be over reaching. I understand we nees to sort of.... own? Own our sexuality, especially outside of cis heterosexual normatives so LGBTQ in itself becomes so notmative that it mo longer matters that it is ar the forefront of who a person is. It's just one of many aspects of one's character. We're not there yet, totally, so Kristen's statement is a bit premature but I wouldn't say she's wrong. I hope that made sense. I totally respect your opinion by the way and for the most part agree but I also, on some level, understand Kristen's sentiment.

It's violent because it's invasive to be reduced to sexuality. It's violent because it removes all the other hundreds or thousands of things that makes you a person and gives you a box to sit in. It's violent because it's constant. It's literally emotional violence.

In fact her portrayal of a woman who loves women is such a chicken-sh#t portrayal of a lesbian that these movie would have been classified ok to watch by the old Soviet Union! Elizabeth Banks made a another crappy movie to go on her resume. It ranks up there with WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER. You'd know what a piece of trash that was if you'd seen it.

As a Muslim in India where I have to choose my language amongst almost more than a dozen of 'alien' languages competing with each other, I would choose English anytime because I am comfortable in learning it and making it even my first language. I read decent books in English, admire decent art and music in English which makes me attracted to the English language. Not that I didnt read or admire good decent things in what might be called my native language. But still ...I have no beliefs in getting around the truth in the name of fake pride for one's language. As for Kirsten's questions about sexuality anyone can choose their own. The question that matters is 'who cares?'
