Haydn never disappoints, I really like this symphony tucked in between the "Paris" and "London " symphonies, it is short and sweet and lovely 😍
La Germania è ricca di orchestre. Molti sono i direttori italiani impegnati. E noi? Interpretazione leggera e gradevole. E gli orchestrali. Un Haydn spiritoso e godibile

Nobody enjoying it more than the conductor I suspect, wish the orchestra would show more love, their performance deserves it, somehow they are not sure they got it right. Of course they did!

@@petercrosland5502 IMO, starting with Haydn's 81st Symphony, they are all masterpieces. Thank God for chamber orchestras since they play an enormous amount of music from the classical era. Of course, there are plenty of great symphonies prior to 80 especially 44 through 49.

Vai su in crescendo fino al Paradiso. Saluti. Ascolta Il Turco in Italia, sinfonia. E se puoi tutta l opera.

Haydn’s later symphonies§ like those of Mozart (Symphonies 39-41), Michael Haydn (Symphonies 34-39, confusingly P26-31), Dittersdorf (Ovid symphonies), and others, were often conceived in sets; as such, they were always very different in tonality, mood, spirit, intent, and many other characteristics. Haydn 88 and 89 were sent as a pair to Paris by Haydn in the hands of the Eszterhazy violinist Johann Tost, and as such were deliberately contrasting works; you’re right that 88 is the greater work of the two (though labelling it as Everest leaves you nowhere else to go with the later ‘London’ symphonies). § A number of symphonies from Haydn’s entire career could in fact be considered as sets, including some from much earlier: 1761 Symphonies 6 (‘Le Matin’), 7 (‘Le Midi’), 8 (‘Le Soir’) 1772 Symphonies 45 and 46 1782 Symphonies 76, 77, 78 1783/84 Symphonies 79, 80, 81 1785/86 ‘Paris’ Symphonies 87, 85, 83, 84, 86, 82* 1787 Symphonies 88, 89 1788/89 Symphonies 90, 91, 92 1791/92 ‘London’ Symphonies (I) 96, 95, 93, 94, 98, 97* 1794/95 ‘London’ Symphonies (II) 99, 100, 101, 102, 103, 104. * The correct, chronological, and intended ordering of the works, not the arbitrary, senseless and musically disfunctional Hoboken numbering.
