Nobody ever did retrowave better than MPM Soundtracks. Not to take away anything from newer synthwave and retrowave artists, but most the newer stuff is basically just electronic dance club music for Zoomers to shake their booties and glowsticks (especially the stuff that got mainstream radio play). Some of it is indistinguishable from the typical "house" music. MPM actually captured that 80's retro vibe almost perfectly. Kristine's voice compliments MPM's music very nicely. Hopefully they're both still making music.

Agreed. He was able to capture the nuances of different styles found in 80's films. Alot of what is out now is like modern pop with oversaturated synth.The golden years of synthwave in my opinion were between 2009-2017. After that, it seemed to have taken a more modern sound as opposed to the more authentic sounding artists like Kristine, MPM, La Cassette and Miami Nights 1984, Timecop1983 and we can't forget D/A/D or Futurecop!

​@@chance_peterik Exactly. The music is so simple and easy to listen to, but it's far bigger than the sum of its instruments. I remember people were attempting music like this as far back as the late 1990's, and it always veered into post-punk, techno, goth pop, or some weird experimental sounds. I'm just glad someone finally nailed it.
