This is an ultimate example of a power ballad. The ballad part is so laid back that when the power part kicks in, the contrast is striking. Plus, I love the poetic description of how someone would deal with a Dear John letter. This is the second Savatage song where the darkness is thought of as comforting and not menacing. Thank you for doing this and for whoever suggested it, as it is such a gorgeous and powerful song.

If you liked this song, you will *love* their song "Believe". It's another ballad which builds as it progresses, and some of the most poignant lyrics I've ever heard in any song. They've also started performing Believe at Trans-Siberian Orchestra shows if you'd prefer this style of vocals, although Jon Oliva's raspy voice _really_ worked in the original Savatage recording.

Recomendo Hall of The Mountain King, Sirens, Jesus Saves dentre tantas outras...

I'm new to this but I watched and listen to a savatage you played the other day and I I'm big fan of there music I was fortunate to see them before the tragedy of Criss Olivia. If there is any chance you can play a song for me I would like to hear any song from his brother Jon Olivia who made an album 10years after his brother death. Thank you

Allen... is that true? or are you kidding with me..
@ATrainHC4 жыл бұрын
@@KristinKali I'm not even kidding. TSO's breakout hit Christmas Eve Sarajevo was on Savatage's Dead Winter Dead album. The EXACT same track. Believe, The Mountain, and several other TSO songs were all Savatage originals. :-)

The first time TSO played Believe I cried and sang along. My girlfriend at the time recorded it. I'll never live it down, but it's an amazing song!
