i wish my mom had done this for me. She always insisted I throw big parties, because she wanted to plan and control everything. I am about as introverted as they come and several times only a few people showed up for a party set up for 50+ people. It was humiliating…

@@jo-eo9ld I've only ever had 1 birthday party and I don't even remember it. I just have photos of it and remember the place we went to had a ball pit and a play place kind of like the McDonald's ones. It wasn't at McDonald's though. I think it was called Adventure Land? I'm an introvert too but we always struggled financially so parties weren't a necessity at our house. Each year for our birthday it was just immediate family and the birthday person got to pick where we went out to eat/ where we ordered food from. When I was younger I always wanted Pizza Hut lol

@@jo-eo9ld My older sister is 11 months older than I. At her 9th yr birthday, she wanted and got a big party with all her school friends invited, not to mention our cousins. She's very popular and social. I am 180 degree opposite of her. My mom knew us well, so for my 9th birthday (and all the birthdays after that through HS) she gave me a box/a dozen of my favorite chocolate bars and a little money so I could go with my closest friends (3 of them) and have a lunch at our favorite pizza or burger or ice cream place.

Personally, I’ll prefer slumber parties. You’re not pressured to make a large portion of foods and cleaning up a big mess afterward. You’ll probably still have to clean but at least it won’t be as messy as a party party mess lol. Plus, it’s more fun and cozy for your daughter to be with her close friends and while they’re having fun you probably can have a little me time.

My mum also loves going all out for my birthday but I've always prefer celebrating with close family and friends, it feels more comfortable, intimate and special to me, I'm also a introvert btw. My mum only realised this when I celebrated my 30th birthday this year and it was really hard for her to comprehend it 😅 I know everyone is different.

This brings memories of the one and only time I was allowed at the slumber party (I was a clearly gay boy) and it was very similar to this, the dad was a little concerned of having a boy at the sleepover until he us dancing in tutu’s with flower crowns and my face covered with that toy make up from back then, it was the first time I painted my nails and I am still grateful for the mom who actually let my friend invite me

One party I will never forget was a co-ed slumber party (I was in 3rd grade) and it was so simple, with pizza and swimming, we tie-dyed pillowcases and watching a movie at the end of the night where everyone slept in the livingroom. I’ll always remember the dad farted so loud when everyone was drifting to sleep and it woke up one of our friends, who was already sleeping, and us few that were awake were trying so hard not to laugh. We ended up laughing under our pillows. Good times. I still have that pillowcase and now my son uses it. ❤

The party isn't about YOU it's about your daughter. Her wishes are paramount at this point and she probably wants a smaller group because she's learned already that some people might just have sent their kids to her previous parties to say they were there and not feel left out. She's 8 not 18 at that age it should be about the memories she will make with her REAL friends.

That's a cute idea. I usually had a smal intimate party for my kids. They could invite a friend or two. We would go out to dinner at times and go to like a huge indoor kids gym, a Mexican restaurant with Mariachi band, cupcakes at school with classmates a must.❤❤❤❤

I'm almost 70 and my Mom gave me one party in my life and that was when I was 7, We had hotdogs cake and ice cream Then we played pin tail on the donkey and it wasn't a lot spent. My room mate told his best friend to tell me while on his death bed " He remembers my party and it was a great memory.
