So this video needs some serious footnotes: - I mention that I used Academy watercolor paper for the Uber awesome granulating results in addition to Fyess but as I say this the footage shows Academy rough. I consider Academy rough and cold press the same. The “rough” designation with Academy isn’t truly rough IMO. - The swatches painted during this video were done on Arches Pad of Rough. The results were shockingly lackluster on the granulating front thus inspiring the entire direction of this video. Moral of the story? Paper really matters when it comes to optimal granulating!

I love that you discovered Hoyas! They are very inspiring and particular personalities, just like granulated watercolor and paper. Nice little connection.

I’m a bit obsessed. Had a few Hoyas for the last five years but recently I’ve gone deeply down the rabbit hole!!

I love granulation, especially in my greens and blues. When I first tried granulating paints, I thought I didn't like them, but they quickly grew on me 🥰

The secret to getting a Hoya plant to bloom is to make sure it is very root bound. Then pick off the flowers as they die. You can blooms almost all year when you do this!

I e heard this :) I’ve got quite a few I’m very hopeful will show me the blooms this year!!
@sacrebleu137115 сағат бұрын
Just be sure not to break the bud/bloom central stem from the plant when picking off dead flowers. It will get new blooms and each time gets bigger. Also a good bloom feeding helps. My spotted hoya is 80+ years old now. It belonged to another person who had it for 50 of those years.

Hi there, Kristy! Just letting you know that I am having a problem with the link to the collab items. When I click, a narrow drop down thing that has a few of your items but none of the collab things, and if I click on the link in the narrow drop down page that goes to your website it isn’t easy to find the Issy collab things there, either. I’m not sure whether anyone else has had a similar experience or not, but I just thought I would let you know that some people might be finding some issues … I hope I haven’t caused you to many problems!!!
@KristyRice7 сағат бұрын
The collab items are at that link but you need to scroll down the page once to see them. Can you let me know if that works?

Nope don’t see any Issy items when I click the link. Pretty difficult to find.

I love granulated watercolor. I find it hard to find in the US. I bought some on Amazon but not many colors to choose from. Since she is not in the US is the shipping expensive
@KristyRice20 сағат бұрын
Her shipping is actually super affordable. Definitely take a look :) Also take a look at most legacy brands as they all have granulating paint. Kuretake is one of my recent faves and is available on Amazon :)

Daniel Smith! Many of their colors are well known for amazing granulation and color separation. My favorites are Green Apatite Genuine, Undersea Green, Cobalt Teal, Cascade Green (separates into turquoise and green!), Moonglow of course, Transparent Brown Oxide. Their French Ultramarine is the most granulating of brands I’ve tried. Most of their Primateks granulate, and descriptions of each color on their website will tell you. My favorite paints. I am very interested to try the paints Kristy is using in this video. Some really unique and vibrant colors.
