This tutorial is AMAZING if you take the time to listen to everything she says. She breaks each element down and explains why you do it that way.... awesome! I am so ready to try this and figure out which part of my body needs strengthening, and where I need to improve technique. Awesome sauce.

Great Tutorial Kristy, thank you for posting. I've been struggling with this move for ages but seeing it 'sectioned' out into 4 moves makes more sense!! So I'll give it a try :o)

Thanks! This tutorial was great! I've been doing pole now for about a year on my own, never had a teacher. I can hold a human flag pretty well but wasn't able to do the deadlift. The twisted grip and the bend - bend - straight - straight pointer was really helpful. I have tried doing deadlifts by myself but I've only really gotten into that flag-middle-stage then I've just been stuck. However after watching your tutorial and properly bending the legs and straightening them in the right order I got it on the first try. Thanks again! ^^

Thanks for a great tutorial. My question is: I'm good with lifting off and pushing out, but getting from pushing out to bringing knees up seems impossible, and I've been working at that level for around 12 months - you know, that frustrating "almost there....." level. Do you have any tips for moving from the pushed out hang to bring the knees up (to high enough to continue) without falling back down

BagelPix bring one leg up at a time, straighten the first leg to tip the weight over as you start bringing the second up.

Thedearanddarling id work on lifting off the floor slowly and lowering back to the floor, even if it's very small. Also if you can twisted grip already try lowering the whole thing to the pole, not just to the floor, it helps strengthen those first few muscles you need to go up. You can also swing out to a star position and control the swing back in. ;-)

Hi Natalie, I think the sideways one is hit and miss for only a short amount of time until your lat strengthens. Also I find by straightening one leg instead of tucking both there isn't as much pressure coming in on my bottom arm. However this could just be different body types. I recommend training the technique that will allow you to do more transitions and tricks as you get better at it. Does that help a bit?

Thank you so much for the tutorial, it will be super helpful to try out next practice session! Just a quick question, do you have any particular exercises or drills you do to improve your strength for the twisted grip deadlift? :) (Also I LOVED your "Toxic" performance!)

I can do it with a spotter helping on the lift. Some how I just can't come up! Feels like I am bottom heavy! I know that the lift will come, but need more pointers🍟 Like your video! Do you have any further tips??

This is a great tutorial. Thanks for sharing. I do have one question and it is about your lift. I notice that you are still quite side on when you do the initial lift and then turn as you tuck your knees up. I find it hit and miss with coming up sideways rather than turning chest up before fully lifting. I like the look of lifting sideways though, any advice for getting this sideways lift without the pressure in your top shoulder? Thnx

Natalie Stephens i find that if i lift facing the roof it puts too much pressure through my lower back. Easier to strengthen the lat muscle rather than put pressure through joints. hope that helps
