¿A mask? It would be better a layer over the top to place the wall. Then, the character will be automatically masked by it without the need of selecting a mask manually. I did this all the time with "Adobe Flash" ("Adobe Animate" now), is it possible with Krita?

I deleted my original comment. Sorry my focus must be a bit off today :-} Yes you can simply use three over lapping layers to animate this scene as he showed in the first part of the video. He’s showing you how to use masks in case your background is one flattened layer and you can’t sandwich your character in between the layers.

@@haroldd5035 True, the way you explained it is the best; less effort and no need to trace the silhouette of the wall. But yes, it's cool to know alternative methods just in case, for another possible situations.

What resolution do you set up your files at? And, for the character, is your color in the same layer as the line work?

2200px x 1257px any dpi will work as long as it is measured in pixels.
