I disagree with the AIM about American players living a comfortable life after winning an Olympic medal. There are many American players especially in atheletics ( high jump, shot put, discus throw etc), gymnastics, weightlifters etc that struggle to get sponsership & are drowning in debt. Only selective games get sponsership like basketball, baseball, swimming, boxing, American football, marathon runners. The other games are still struggling in USA.
