The front cover on those speakers is magnet 'tightend'/held. Maybe putting some very thin rubber or something else soft in between will resolve the ratteling.

I'm assuming you're referring to the last demo track. I stopped it because it bottomed out the bass driver (which you could also hear as an audible distortion in the video), and I was worried it may cause mechanical damage to the speaker. Turns out I had it playing just a bit too loud for what the KRKs could handle. This is sadly one shortcoming of these speakers that they are very easy to overpower with low frequency content.

I was interest to buy a pair of these, how do you feel the stereo field? should i buy an audio interface to have a really good volume? are these top quality?

Hey, so the stereo image is really great on these speakers. Especially because the mids and highs have their own dedicated drivers. It all comes down to your setup though, the first thing to think about is that these are meant for studio use and as such shouldn't be set up in a tiny bathroom with lots of echoes. These speakers are quite large and very detailed. To get the best sound, you should look to setting these up in an acoustically treated room with plenty of space to let the low end really fill out the room. As far as audio interface goes it depends again, on your current setup. These have TRS/XLR combi jacks at the back, which means they do NOT accept RCA or Aux input like many other speakers. You will need something that outputs either of these cable formats or a proper adapter. An audio interface makes things very easy in terms of connections and volume control. But you do not need it to get maximum volume as these are internally amplified, that means you couod theoretically connect your phone directly into them and reach max volume. If you want to connect them through your laptop or computer, an audio interface is a really good idea. I recommend anything made by Focusrite (I have one and it works perfect, never had any issues). For a small budget, perhaps the Focusrite solo 3rd gen (~100eur). Let me know if you want more details or have any other questions, I'll be happy to help you out. Cheers, TMS Prod - Official

@@tmsprod_official Can i use the universal audio apollo? and i don't plan to use them for studio purposes but for only listening music.

@@Stratlover hey, so yes you can. But if it's only for music, there's no reason to spend so much money on a Universal Audio product. They're some of the most advanced for studio use. For music, you're better off just getting a simple interface with 2 outputs and a simple volume knob. The UA Apollo isn't going to give you any more volume because no audio interface actually amplifies any signal to the speakers.

Hey TMS, I am thinking about buying the Rokit 10-3 G4 purely for listening to music as I am not a music producer. I am looking for speakers below 1000 bucks that have plenty of sub-bass without needing an external subwoofer and figured the Rokit look like the most powerful choice. You being an owner, would you recommend them to be used for pure listening with a focus on sub bass? And is it advisable/possible to directly connect the Rokit to a laptop/CD player (as I dont have any other professional equipment). Greetings

Hey, thanks for your comment. So here's my recommendation. The Krk Rokit 10-3 are an amazing pair of speakers, that I use at least 60% of the time just to listen to music. The stereo separation, the lows and mids and highs are to my ear just about perfectly enounciated from the speaker cones, and the price is almost too low for what you get. Now it's very important that I also tell you that in my experience they are not super reliable, but I also know of many professional studios and friends who bought these just for listening, and have had them sincd they came out without ANY issues, so my experience must've just been unlucky (I've had to send these in for replacement or repairs 3 times now, and I've owned them less than a year, although one of the times shipping damage was the culprit and the other time, acoustic material had made it's way through the port and out the speaker causing a weird flapping noise. The third time as you may hear in this video, or in my other one is due to rattling noises). I can only recommend these for music listening. They have craazy sub bass capabilities, the only thing I would say is not to drive them extremely high for very sub bass heavy content, as I found they sometimes may have a too much excursion on the 10in driver, and it honestly scares me that it might damage itself. As far as connecting them goes, they have a TRS/XLR combi jack, which means theoretically you can hook them up with a 3.5mm splitter cable and an adaptor or two. The best way though is to get yourself an audio interface which outputs 6.3mm TRS directly. Not sure about CD player because that one usually has RCA outputs. ALSO, these speakers can only accept one input at once, so connecting laptop AND cd player and switching is not going to work unless you connect them both to an audio interface. Hope this was helpful, let me know if I've missed something or if you'd like me to upload some more demos, perhaps you can suggest some tracks that you enjoy to hear if these are for you😉

On the point of extreme excursion, I don't know the exact specs because unfortunately KRK does not list very detailed driver specifications as far as mechanical and electrical numbers go, but the last track in the video, shows what I've found to be the furthest I want to push these speakers. You can see that at one point, the 10in driver just goes crazy, and I actually turn it off at that point because I was afraid it might blow the speaker. So that's an example of what I meant when I said in the comment above, that at very high volumes, content below 30Hz, which that bass note was for sure, I wouldn't drive them past 60 or 70% vol. Then again, 300W each and already with 50% vol my ears hurt and they're audible in the whole of my house very loud (300sqm) so it's not a really common use case.

@@tmsprod_official Hey, thank you, thats a very detailed response 😀 Id be fine with just being able to connect one device at a time as long as I can use something like my phone or laptop with 3.5mm audio jack. And I dont think I would be able to turn them up loud enough for it become to dangerous to the driver. They would be used in my rather small living room. If not absolutely necessary, I would not buy such an audio interface that you mentioned, as it would probably add significant cost on top. Unfortunately the music Id love to hear on them is probably copyrighted. One song that has extremely low bass is "Blowback by Galimatias". I had Bowers & Wilkins 606S2 Bookshelfspeakers (750 bucks) before, but they only went down to 50 Hertz so a lot of deep bass was missing. I sold them and have been looking for something with better bass ever since. Unless youve already done a demo with it, "Bassotronics - the feeling of bass" should be copyright free. That also has extremely low bass, and most of it was missing on my old speakers. The KRK are 950 bucks here atm - did you pay more/less? And I'm sorry to hear you had so many problems with them, ive experienced similar stories with other products before, that had to be replaced three times. Its really cursed sometimes.

@@SensitizedX yea, so actually an audio interface is quite cheap compared to the cost of these beasts. I paid around 930 dollars, but I live in switzerland, so the prices here are different of course. On another note, I can totally upload for you those demos no problem, I'm not worried about the copyright, not planning on putting ads on these videos anyways. Also, I have some other tracks including "Bass I love You" from bassotronics already uploaded to this channel. A compatible audio interface of the cheapest sort (because you don't plan on using it to record any live instruments) usually goes for like $50 to $120. I think it will eliminate a lot of potential issues you may have just directly connecting, because honestly it's quite combersome with at least two different adaptors. On another note, these will blow your old bookshelf speakers right out of the world. They go down to 26Hz, but I've measured them even lower, and they do not distort or get flabby down there, it stays very clean and audible. Highly recommend. Also give me a day or two, and I'll upload those demos you were saying.

@@tmsprod_official Thank you so much for uploading those demos soon! Especially with corona atm its just not really possible to listen to speakers in a shop before buying them. The prices you named for such an interface sound really acceptable indeed. I will need to do some research on what kind of interface will suit my purpose. I am from Germany by the way, in case you also speak German. And jeez, thats insane - even lower than 26 Hertz, that sounds like right up my alley. My old speakers had a really annoying frequency bump around 64 Hertz that made them sound quite boomy. When i removed that frequency spike with an EQ, what remained sounded rather shallow. Probably a case of artificially boosting the mid bass to create a more "impressive" sound. In fact the reason why Im looking into the KRK was the extremely low claimed frequency response. In the realm of HiFi consumer speakers, you need to buy buy huge and extremely expensive towers to get that low, easily +2K.

I’m planning to make another one of these videos. This time with better audio quality, because I recorded this one with a rode camera mic that doesn’t capture much below 100Hz which is obviously not useful if I’m doing a sound demo. I’m also planning to include a lot more of my tracks in the next video.
