Man, to hear Kron say that you just can’t do a single art and expect to beat well-rounded fighters at the highest level was crazy, if you know his history and background. He straight up told the truth, Helio and his father don’t understand, because they’ve never had to deal with any opponent that is even 1/2 as good as any low-level UFC fighter. I hope Kron improves and fights more, because he has heart and his jiu jitsu is unique.

This statement is laughable. Thats like saying mike tyson wouldnt stand a chance against today’s boxers. Different times. Also Helio Gracie fought several competent wrestlers/strikers during his early days who weremuch bigger than he was. Dude was a normal guy, not some roid enhanced clown from UFC.
@BadgerBJJ9 ай бұрын
Kron’s problem wasn’t that he wasn’t “well rounded” enough. The problem was that he only had 7 fights in a ten year period. That is not a professional fighter. If he wanted to fight in the UFC he should have went and trained with Damian Maia, worked on taking his opponents to the ground (Something Maia worked hard at), fought fighters who were “learning experiences” each one getting better, and fought 15-20 in the first 5 years. I suspect the REAL issue was that Kron didn’t really want to be a fighter and wasn’t training, he was teaching and doing other things he enjoys more.

@@lambosnicko comparing boxing to MMA lol
@lambosnicko9 ай бұрын
@@soulvendorlol the point stands. Helio Gracie never partook in fights with rules where strikes to the back of the neck were banned and he never turned to his knees to get out from the bottom. Pretty sure most ufc fighters would get destroyed if that rule didnt exist.
@CyberPohleese9 ай бұрын
@1:52 That takes a lot of humility and courage to acknowledge that. Rickson and Helio found their way during their respective times, you will find yours.

My Dad wanted different things for me and had his opinions on what I should and shouldn't do. Helio and Rickson seem like men who have very strong opinions on many things. I think it's great that Kron is still pushing, still fighting and still making his own way. I support Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and using that as a vehicle to improve our lives and find our own way. Keep fighting .. one more round! God bless Kron!

As someone who seems to enjoy their privacy, Thank you for sharing this when you didn’t have to! I wonder how many people noticed he’s not running with a cell phone on his chest? Montana life hits different. 👊
@marcusaurelius27739 ай бұрын
It's quite the lethal cell phone. Funny thing is, I was watching him run alone like that (or rather imagining when he doesn't have a film crew with him), thinking that no one would have the faintest clue who he is when incognito like that - and just how easily he could be taken out by, among other things, a predatory animal, strapped thugs, or strapped thieves whom wouldn't have the slightest concern or knowledge of his lethality on the mats or in the cage. Glad to see he operates with self-dense accouterments to deal with those realities too.

Breaking tradition is hard amigo, though I see what you're doing as the fulfillment of Jiujitsu. Your Dad spoke of things being easy, and to take the easy path in a fight. That still applies, only the methods have changed. It's a compliment to your family's art that it's had such mass adoption, that you need to adapt. I've enjoyed your fights, and I look forward to what else you'll bring to combat sports.

Glad to see you back Kron. Hope you be ready for your next fight and solve those problems you were facing in the previous fight. Closing the gap and implementing your jiu jitsu seemed really hard to do. Looks like wrestling or boxing can lead you there. Also adding kicks (karate sidekicks, muay thai kicks) to your game would be great because your opponents wouldnt want to catch your kicks and try to take you down anyway. If you change your stance sideways like GSP you could blitz in and out, timing take downs.

Rickson and Helio understanding of the truth where right for their time. But most common people didn't know anything about real fighting back then. People thought kung fu was number one. Now fight science has evolved to a much greater understanding, with a lot more practitioners with the result of elevating fighting science. Still pure fight science is victim of the rules, but it is what it is. I'm still curious to see what kron will amount to, with all his knowledge and rich family history. He is the family Dragon now, and he alone will decide what to do with it. He could be the greatest for his ego, or he could become BJJ greatest servant. There is nothing wrong within both choices.
@LibertyOverDeath-279 ай бұрын
I wish Kron would take pointers from someone like Demian Maia. That's a high-level BJJ competitor who figured out how to use BJJ effectively against all types of fighters. Kron plods forward with no head movement & no level changes. Anyone who knows him is not going to let him get within range to grab them. He needs better head movement and footwork with the boxing, or incorporate some wrestling to level change and get on the inside to get a hold of opponents. Otherwise, he'll keep being just a living punching bag to anyone in the top 10.
