My wife and I did a month in the Kruger, camping, Oct 2018, Shingwedzi for 4 nights, 3 nights at Letaba, 7 nights Satara, 11 nights in Lower Sabie. We did > 5000km in the park. Magical. Nice video reminder.

Excellent film - recalls memories of a month ago, when my wife and I drove from Pafuri Gate to Malalane Gate for 15 days, doing about 4 thousand km. In May 2024 we were also in Kruger Park - I agree with Villiers - the best park in the world. Who else agrees on this issue?

I absolutely love watching your videos. I have just returned from my 1st 7 day trip to Kruger and to say it was a magical experience is an understatement. I loved every minute of it and had the most special sightings and experiences...I think my highlight was having a rhino walk past my tent just after midnight and me being able to experience something that special. I cannot wait to go back next year

Superb video Villiers, definitely an hour well spent! I have to say that Kruger is probably the very best value for money in all of Africa. Where else can you pretty much expect to see all the Big 5 in a week or so trip, sometimes in a single day. In fact we have never done a two week trip to Kruger and not had at least one Big 5 day! Not to mention the sheer size of the park, variety of terrain and wealth of camp options from basic tent camping to luxury safari lodges and you never want for so something cool to see and do. Thanks for sharing this, would love to see you do more Kruger videos and hopefully one day do a video on one of Kruger’s wonderful Wilderness Trails. 🤞🤞

Do you know those Coleman stretchers have a 'trick'? The short poles that are at the head and foot of your stretcher have holes for the long poles - you'll see they are not the same distance from the sides of the pole, the top pole and the bottom pole need to be in 'reverse order'- difficult to explain - if holes on the top pole are, short distance left and longer distance right, then the bottom pole must be the other way round before you insert the long length poles.... And then sit on you bum and push them in with the bottom of your foot - using leg strength... we also use ours on our trail running camps. Thanks for your great video's.

We also visited the kruger mid july, staying at sirheni, shimuwini and mopani. But I must say it is the most dry I have ever seen the north. We found hippos lying discouraged in dry river beds on the s56. Very very few game. Had an awesome cheetah sighting just south of pundu maria, but other than that no nice big cat sightings. We also aways go the pafuri picnic site and even no elephants came to drink because the water levels were so low. What was your experience i.t.o. water levels and game in the north?

Hi Villiers. I have a question: in the beginning of the movie (👍) there seems to be some bias towards elephants. At the same time I hear there is a severe drought in Southern Africa, even leading up to measures to shoot elephants in Namibia and Angola. Is the situation less worse in South-Africa? And don't the ellies suffer from the drought?
@chubs2312
@chubs2312 3 ай бұрын
I'm not sure about the severity of the drought here but I can comment on the elephants. The kruger seems to have a healthy amount of elephants at the moment compared to our neighbors. It isn't elpahant every hour and the herd sizes are not too big. As you van also see there's still a decent amount of vegetation albeit it's not towards the end of the dry season which points to a healthy sustainable elephant population. If there were too many the drought would have been bad. Dryer years are brutal in the neighboring countries because in most cases they've dug boreholes to supply water for the animals at all times. a sure water supply means there's less migration, herds grow in size so when the drought hits there isn't enough food to go around.
@pruimj

Lovely video overall... However, I have some concerns and very strong recommendations as a result: 1. You said you parked "far off the road". Please don't do that because you destroy vegetation and ground nesting sites, not to mention you leave tracks behind. By mentioning it, you encourage every other Tom, Mick and Harry to do the same. The rules of the park are to stay on the road. 2. You also mentioned where you were when you saw the rhinos, and mentioned the "rhino activity" that you had noticed in the area. Please don't show the rhinos, nor say where you found them. Even when marking sightings on the park boards, we no longer show where the rhinos are to protect them from poachers! Please edit this video with regard to the rhino sightings and the fact that you drove off the road. Thank you.
